Nagpur city beat other contenders like Mumbai, Pune and Aurangabad to be the host of an Indian Institute of Management in Maharashtra. Higher and technical education minister Vinod Tawde and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed that the institute will likely start operations from the 2015-16 academic session. Currently, it will operate out of two buildings rented from the Visveswarya National Institute of Technology (VNIT) and later move to its own complex in the non-SEZ area of the upcoming MIHAN project.
