The Indian Institute of Management Indore is all set to introduce a Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Mumbai from this year. This development comes close on the heels of IIM Kozhikode and IIM Trichy launching new campuses to cater to its executive MBA student base.
According to Mr Akhtar Parvez, who is the Librarian as well as the PRO of IIMI, the move to start a course in Mumbai is in keeping with the institute’s expansion plans. The course will however be non-residential, which makes it the first of its kind among all the IIMs (a two-year full time residential course with a PGDM degree awarded at the end of the programme).
It is also the first time that an IIM is running a full time PGP in the financial city of Mumbai. The two-year programme which will span over six terms in Mumbai would be similar to that of PGP at IIM-I. One or two terms may also be held at the IIMI campus.”Faculty from IIM Indore as well industry experts from across the world will be faculty for the course, added to Mr Parvez.
More details on the course, which is expected to start on September 28, can be got from the IIMI website . Interested applicants will have to undergo a written aptitude test (on August 30-31, 2012) and personal interview if their names are among those shortlisted.
Classes for this course will be held at the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), CBD Belapur which is a few kilometres from the main city of Mumbai.
The first batch will constitute just 75 students this year. According to the notification, CAT or GMAT scrore will be accepted. The course fee will be Rs 7.5 lakh per year.
Starting this September, this course will begin classes later than other PGP course. However, IIMI has decided to match up its schedule with the IIMI course at the Indore campus so that examinations and placements etc can be held at the same time at both the places.
Currently, IIMI has decided to take on a few classrooms at the ICSI buiding. Over time, it may take on more space depending on the response to the course.
