IIM Bangalore’s Professor of Corporate Strategy and Policy, Prof Rishikesha Krishnan is going to be taking over as director of IIM Indore. While the official confirmation is yet to reach IIM-I, Prof Krishnan has apparently been informed about it. He is expected to join anytime soon since Dr N Ravichandran’s (current IIM-I director) termed ended last month.
Prof Krishnan (49) is an IIT-Kanpur and Stanford University post graduate and has co-authored the book 8 Steps to Innovation: Going from Jugaad to Excellence earlier this year. Prior to that he wrote a book From Jugaad to Systematic Innovation: The Challenge for India’, which was published in 2010.
Prof Krishnan has worked in the corporate sector as well, having managed a company and currently leads crucial activities at IIM-B including ‘Placement, PGP, Research and Publications, Corporate Strategy etc.
He has also been the brain behind setting up the Office of Disability Services at IIMB, a support centre for IIM-B students with disabilities. According to IIM-B officials, this effort led to IIM-B being chosen for the NCPEDP – MphasiS Universal Design Award 2012 for its work towards the cause of accessibility.
Prof Krishnan’s appointment comes after weeks of meetings and discussions. Thankfully, the meetings nor this appointment was marred by any controversy, unlike appointments of some of the other IIM directors. One expected current director Dr N Ravichandran to hold term for a few months considering that he undertook quite a few innovations for the institute. In an earlier interview with PaGaLGuY, Dr Ravichandran had however disclosed that he would love the idea of going back to IIM Ahmedabad and teach since teaching was his first love.
