The IELTS English test conducted as many as 8 times a month, has been running on a delayed schedule lately. Some of the results for exams held in June and until mid July haven’t been released as yet. Social media and complaint boards are flushed with exam takers posting their grievances. See image below.
Mukul Chakravarthy, an IELTS taker, says, “I gave the exam in July 14, 2016, and the results were expected on July 23. Instead, I got a mail from the British Council that my test was taken for investigation and thus the results have been delayed.” Mukul is not the only one facing such travail. Many other students who had taken the IELTS between June and mid July have received similar mails. Karan Deep, who gave his IELTS on June 18, 2016, says, “I contacted the IDP IELTS officials in India, but was not given any clear date as to when can I expect the results.” The email received by these applicants further states; ‘I understand that my results may not be issued 13 days after the test if any of the IELTS Test Partners deem it necessary to review any matter associated with my test’.
The IELTS Official facebook account also has students complaining about losing out on application deadlines to foreign universities for which they had given the English test. Students and professionals have also lodged complaints on the National Consumer Complaint Forum, against IDP IELTS for creating glitches in their visa application. Those planning to go abroad for study purposes are afraid of losing an academic year for delay in submission of their IELTS scores to their respective universities. For some applicants, it has been over a month since the results delay, and it has created some amount of distrust amongst applicants.
