The Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) functions under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer’s Welfare, Government of India. The council has been functioning in an autonomous way for several years and aims for the growth of the agricultural sector through comprehensive research.
In order to apply the principles of economics in the progress of the agricultural research and policymaking, ICAR established the ICAR-National Institute of Agricultural Economics and Policy Research (NIAP).
ICAR-NIAP will be providing the opportunity to eligible candidates to be recruited into the Institute as several vacancies have been notified by it. Candidates who are interested in applying must check out the details which are available on the official website of ICAR-NIAP.
ICAR-NIAP has notified a total of only 5 vacancies. Out of these 2 vacancies are for the post of Senior Research Fellow (SRF), and 3 vacancies are for the post of Research Associates. The candidates for both the given posts will be selected on the basis of a walk-in-interview.
The walk-in-interview will be conducted by ICAR-NIAP on 23rd November 2019. The interview is scheduled to begin at 10:00 AM. However, candidates are expected to reach the venue well before time. Candidates must take note of the address where the walk-in-interview will be conducted –

It is important for the candidates to carry all their original testimonials, original age proof and self-attested photocopies of the testimonials on the day of the interview.
It is also important that all the candidates check the eligibility criteria for the post they want to interview for. Candidates can take note of the eligibility criteria of the different posts –
- Research Associate:
- PhD in Agricultural Economics or Economics OR,
- Masters degree in Agricultural Economics along with a bachelor’s degree of 4 or 5 years in the same and having first division (60%) marks.
- Men should be of 40 years whereas women 45 years.
- Senior Research Fellow (SRF)
- Masters in Agricultural Economics or Agricultural statistics or Economics with a bachelor’s degree of 4 to 5 years.
- Good knowledge of computers, including MS Office, SPSS, STATA, etc.
- Men should be 35 years of age, while women should be 40 years.
Candidates selected for the post of Research Associate can expect a salary between Rs 49,000/- to 54,000/- depending on their educational qualifications. On the other hand, candidates for Senior Research Fellow can expect a salary of Rs 31,000/- to 35,000/-
