The selection process for the post of SO by IBPS includes the following steps:
- Prelims
- Mains and
- Interview
Only those candidates who successfully clear all these rounds will be considered for the last interview process.
IBPS is an organizational body which had started in the year of 1975. Initially, it was called PSS, also known as Public Selection Service. In the year 1984, it came under the name of IBPS and became an independent identity. It conducts a common written examination for those who are willing to work for the public sector and regional rural banks all over India. The services include:
- Project Consultation: Assistance in conducting examination for recruitment and promotion
- Workshops for people who design their own question paper
- List of experts who can conduct interviews or group exercises effectively
- Training programmes to develop observational and interviewing skills.
The application came out on 6th November 2019, while the last date for applying was on 26th November 2019. The candidates who have already applied will get a call letter on the IBPS official website. Those who acquire this will have to appear for the prelims and those who secure high marks will then be selected for the main examination. The final result will then be released, which will lead to an interview process which will be conducted for the selection of the candidates.

There are almost about 1163+ Specialist Officers (SO) vacancies for IBPS SO 2019-20. This post needs a very skilled and specialized officer, and hence only a limited number of posts are available. Last year the number of vacancies had reached up to 1590. The list of vacancies can be given as follows as per the posts:
- Agriculture Officer (Scale I): 670 posts
- Marketing Officer: 310 posts
- IT Officer: 76 posts
- Law Officer: 60 posts
- HR/Personnel Officer: 20 posts
- Rajbhasha Adhikari: 27 posts
- Total: 1163 posts
The application fee for each candidate is Rs. 600/- and the amount is narrowed down to Rs. 100/-.

The admit card will be released once the process of the application is complete. Admit card for the preliminary exam will be released first and then the admit card for the mains will be released after. The admit card for the mains exam will be allowed only if the candidate will pass the preliminary exam.
The results will be released after each exam is over. A combined score of the prelims, mains and the interview process is prepared to get the final list of selected students. The merit list is prepared on the basis of the marks obtained by the candidates. Candidates who get to the merit list will then receive an appointment letter from the bank of Candidates choice.
The cut off will be released after each phase of the examination. The cut for prelims will be released first, followed by which the mains will be released.
