It’s the time of the year when most coaching institutes in Hyderabad schedule entrance tests to admit new batches of IIT aspirants. With admission tests lined up from today onwards, students can enrol themselves for academic year 2016-17 in order to seek admissions in some of the premier engineering institutes across the country. The admission test for FIITJEE, one of the major engineering coaching institutes in Hyderabad is scheduled on February 7 for class 6th to 12th students.
Every year, in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, over 1.5 lakh students appear for the IIT-JEE (Mains), approximately 18000 students make it to the IIT-JEE (Advanced).
After Kota, Hyderabad is seen as a hub for IIT preparation. Keeping this in view, reputed institutes such as Aakash Academy, FIITJEE, Sri Sri Academy, among many others will be holding admission tests for engineering aspirants for batches 2016-17 and 2016-18. All intermediate students are eligible to appear for these tests.
Every coaching institute has their own format and structure for the entrance tests. Some of them also provide incentives like scholarships and fee refund to the applicants. For instance, Aakash Academy conducts an Admission-cum-Scholarship Test (ACST) for aspirants, organised at its various centres. The exam will be held on February 21 this year. While the syllabus for class XI students is 75 objective questions in Physics, Chemistry and Maths, class XII students will have to answer 100 questions in the same subjects. Several coaching centres also provide residential facilities for students coming from other cities.
For those interested to take up IIT coaching during summer vacations can consider the Sri Sri Academy for IIT training as well. The institute conducts Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) every year in last week of April or first week of May. “The test aims to access students’ ability in Physics, Maths and Chemistry. Top 160-180 students will be selected by the institute which will be put under rigorous training to crack IIT JEE,” said Chukka Ramaiah, founder of Sri Sri Academy.
