It has been a few weeks since CBSE conducted the JEE Main 2015 for all those seeking admission to undergraduate programs in the various Engineering institutes. Having checked your expected scores and ranks, you must now go one step ahead and focus fully on the JEE Advanced. In this article, we cover all of the essential details that you need to know about the JEE Advanced 2015.
What
is JEE (Advanced) 2015?
The
JEE (Advanced) is an exam conducted by the seven zonal IITs under the
strong guidance of the Joint Admission Board. This exam is meant for those candidates who are keen to get a
seat in
the sixteen IITs and the Indian School of Mines (ISM)
for admissions to the Bachelor’s,
Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2
level) at these institutes.
The
JEE (Advanced) is a very exclusive examination for those who fit the tight eligibility criteria and this exam hand-picks the candidates deserving enough to be
placed into the IITs and the ISM.
This exam consists of two papers of 3 hour duration each.

Eligibility
Criteria for the JEE (Advanced) 2015:
The
candidate must fulfill each of the following criteria in order to be eligible to appear
for the JEE Advanced examination 2015:

He/She
should be among the top 1,50,000 students in the JEE (Main) 2015. -
He/She
should satisfy the age limit, i.e. must have been born on or after October 1,
1990 and on or after October 1, 1985 for candidates belonging to SC,
ST and PwD category. -
The
JEE (Advanced) 2015 should be the candidate’s first or second
attempt only. -
He/She
should have appeared for the class XII board exams in either 2014 or
2015. Those whose XII board exam results were declared after June
2013 are also eligible for JEE (Advanced) 2015. -
He/She
should NOT have taken admission or even accepted admission for any
course in any of the IITs or ISM in the past.

(Advanced) scores have been used by a handful of institutes in the
past, including:

Indian
Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) located
in Bhopal,

Pune
and
Thiruvananthapuram.
3.
Indian
Institute of Space Science and Technology, Tiruvananthapuram (IIST)
4.
Rajiv
Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology, Rae Bareli (RGIPT)

The
JEE (Advanced) 2015 will be of approximately the same level as that
of the JEE (Main) 2015.
