The Indian Railways has announced vacancies for 18,252 positions with excellent pay (up to Rs. 34,800 + GP) and perks. These positions are to be filled through an aptitude test (along similar lines as IBPS PO and SSC CGL tests). Thus, this is an excellent opportunity for all students who are already preparing for IBPS and/or SSC examinations.

The Railway Recruitment Board, through its official notification no. CEN 03/2015, has released a list of 18,252 vacancies for non-technical positions such as Assistant Station Master (ASM), Traffic Assistant, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice (CA), Traffic Apprentice (TA), Enquiry-Cum-Reservation Clerk (ECRC), Senior Clerk-Cum-Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant-Cum-Typist (JAA) and Goods Guard.
Remuneration:
Posts like Commercial Apprentice & Traffic Apprentice have a pay scale of Rs 9,300 – 34,800 + GP 4,200/-
All other posts have a decent pay scale of Rs 5,200 – 20,200 + GP 2,800/-.
States of examination:
a) There will be a common Computer Based Test (CBT) for all the posts mentioned above.
b) For posts like Junior Accounts Assistant-Cum-Typist (JAA), Sr. Clerk & Sr. Time Keeper, there will be typing skill test of qualifying nature.
c) There will be a separate aptitude test for posts like Assistant Station Master (ASM) & Traffic Assistant.
d) So, let us quickly go through the pattern of the computer based objective type exam.
Pattern of the exam:
This exam will be of multiple choice type. It will have 100 questions worth 100 marks – these questions are to be attempted within 90 minutes. This exam will have four sections which are as follows:

All questions would carry one mark each for the correct answer, with a negative mark of 0.33 for every wrong answer.
