A female coaching aspirant preparing for NEET hanged herself to death in Kota, the first coaching student suicide of the year. Tanya Rana (18) of Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, was found hanging from ceiling fan in her hostel room in the Kunhadi area of Kota on Friday midnight. Hostel authorities later informed about the suicide to the Kunhadi Police Station, which arrived at the hostel and took the body in its posession. Postmortem of the deceased student will be done on the arrival of her parents from Himachal Pradesh.
The girl had arrived in Kota last year (2016) for NEET coaching. Regarding the reason she committed suicide, Meera Beniwal, Assistant Sub Inspector, Kunhadi Police Station said that the police is investigating the case but reasons are not clear yet, as no suicide note has been recovered.
The incident has occurred just 5 days after the mass mediation cum interaction programme of spiritual guru, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in Kota who had organised ‘Utsah’ on 15th January.
Tanya’s suicide is the first student suicide in Kota this year. Around 1.50 lakh students come for coaching for the IIT-JEE / NEET and other entrance examinations from the different coaching institutes of Kota.
