The Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering or GATE is a national level entrance exam conducted for students willing to pursue higher studies in the field of engineering. The applications for GATE 2020 exam is going to end soon and all interested candidates must finish applying at the earliest.
The GATE exam is conducted collectively by the Indian Institute for Science and seven Indian Institutes for Technology. IIT Delhi is overseeing the entire procedure for conducting the GATE exam in 2020. The applications without late fee were closed by IIT Delhi on 28th September, 2019.
Applications open right now are only for those candidates who will be registering with the late fee. Thus, the last date for applying for GATE 2020 is 5th October, 2019, following which candidates will not be given anymore opportunities for registration.

The fees for the application has thus been increased for those who could not apply on time. For students under the categories of Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Persons with Disabilities or any Female Candidate will now have to pay an increased fee of Rs 1250/-. All other candidates will be required to pay Rs 2000/-.

The application fees has also been increased for candidates residing out of India. Those appearing from the centres of Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka or Kathmandu will now have to pay an application fee of US$ 70 instead of US$ 50. Candidates appearing from the centres in Dubai and Singapore will now have to pay US$ 120 in place of US$ 100.
Candidates will also get the opportunity to make a change in their city of examination by making a payment of some additional fees. However, this facility will only be available once the application process is over. The last date for changing the city will be 15th November, 2019.
In order to apply, candidates can do so on its official website. GATE 2020 will be conducted at various centres throughout India. It will comprise of 25 papers and will be taken in the form of a Computer based test. The dates for GATE 2020 have also been announced. The exams will take place on the following dates –

- 8th February, 2020
- 9th February, 2020
The date for the release of the GATE 2020 admit card has been notified too. It will be available on the official website on 3rd January, 2020. The scores achieved by candidates in GATE 2020 will be considered valid for the next three years from the date on which the results are announced.
