GATE is the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering that is conducted every year to essentially test the understanding of candidates in various undergraduate subjects for engineering and science.
GATE scores are highly valuable as they are a requirement in several post-graduate admissions or a necessary qualification during several recruitments. GATE by the 7 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and the Indian Institute of Science (IIS).
Candidates are gearing up for GATE 2020 exam which will be conducted in the upcoming year by the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. GATE 2020 will be conducted in the month of February and will comprise of the examination for a total of 25 subjects. The dates on which GATE 2020 will be held, are as follows –
- 1st February 2019
- 2nd February 2019
- 8th February 2019
- 9th February 2019
The application process for GATE 2020 was carried out in September 2019. The applications were again opened for the candidates of Jammu and Kashmir, with the last date for them to apply being 8th November 2019. Once they are over, candidates are given the opportunity make corrections in their application (if needed), with regard to several fields.
Gate 2020 Application process
IIT Delhi has started the corrections for various fields such as examination city, candidate’s name, father’s name, etc. However, the correction window is yet to be opened for several other fields and will be notified by IIT Delhi, once allowed.
Since a lot of candidates are anxious about the mistakes made in the application form, a notification was issued by IIT Delhi addressing the correction facility. The notification did not provide any date for the opening of the correction window.

As per the notification, IIT Delhi has simply requested the candidates to wait patiently for the corrections to start. Any information will be notified on the official website. Candidates are awaiting for the corrections of the following fields –
- Gender of the candidate
- Category to which one belongs
- Examination paper, etc.
While the candidates await the opening of the correction window, they must continue their preparation for the exam. Mock Tests for GATE 2020 have also been published on the official website, gate.iitd.ac.in. It is a very important part of the preparation process. Candidates must make proper use of the Mock test to get a fair idea about the exam pattern.
The GATE scores have a validity of three years from the year in which the result is released.
