Onlookers had to intervene to stop the fist fight at VIT, Wadala
While students gathered at Vidyalankar Institute of Technology, Wadala, celebrated the annual fest Verve 2016- A Genesis, two students had different plans to make the day memorable. Gaurav Yadav, a final year student of ARMIET College, Thane, and Siddhant Chavan of Vidyalankar Polytechnic entered into a brawl in the campus on the last day of the fest.
As a part of the fest, teams from colleges across Maharashtra had arrived to compete and win the Kabaddi competition. During the match between KC College, Wadala and Vidyalankar Polytechnic, Siddhant’s bag, containing his mobile phone and wallet, went missing. Post the match, when he realised his bag was nowhere to be found, he accused Gaurav of hiding it, “I saw Gaurav hiding a player’s bag yesterday just to trouble him. I am sure it is him again,” said Siddhant. Gaurav, on the other hand, denied playing any prank of hiding bags, “The player had misplaced his bag yesterday, which was returned to him by a security guard in the evening. I played no role in it,” said Gaurav.
Soon after, the arguments caught momentum and Siddhant started accusing Gaurav of stealing his personal belongings. The heated argument led to a fist fight between the two, and the security officials had to intervene to bring the situation under control. Interestingly, both Gaurav and Siddhant were good friends and batch mates in school. They, along with other friends, used to hang out regularly as they hailed from the same locality of Lalbaug, Dadar.
Siddhant recovered his bag from the playground by evening. However, he maintained that Gaurav had hid it to trouble him. When PaGaLGuY spoke to the security in-charge, Mr Satish Ghode, the latter blamed the irresponsible students for such goof-ups, “We cannot afford to put cameras in every corner of the campus. Students’ actions should not cross the limit where their friendship turns into enmity.”
