Free TOEFL test course to start on MOOC platform

Educational Testing Service (ETS), the creating and administrating organisation for TOEFL, is set to release phase 2 of its online free English course. The 6-week course will commence on the MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) platform from September 7, 2016. This is the second running of the MOOC course, with the first running launched in April this year.

The first 4 weeks of the course will focus on the 4 TOEFL test skills – Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking – in each of the weeks. Students registering for the course will be given lectures, video tutorials and sample questions from past tests with answer explanations. Lectures will be conducted by TOEFL experts. In the Writing and Speaking sections, TOEFL test creators will review a few responses and provide evaluation and feedback as well.

According to ETS, the course adds convenience to learning for students, as they will have to give a weekly commitment of only 2-3 hours for the course. However, most TOEFL test takers in India, with average English skills, are willing to give more than just 3 hours a week towards the test practice. Multiple coaching institutes in India counselling for TOEFL and IELTS, provide paid platforms of classroom or app-based learning (Magoosh, Jamboree, T.I.M.E.). The USP of ETS’s 6-week MOOC course is that it is free, and comes directly from the international test creators.

While registering for the TOEFL test, candidates have the option of paying a higher fee to acquire IBT (Internet Based Testing) courseware from ETS. The MOOC course removes this additional financial clause and allows exam takers to learn the skills and tips required for the exam for free. Students can simply select the course from the MOOC-list and click on ‘enrol now’. For more information about this course, read here

TOEFL Go vans will be visiting different cities in northern and southern India through August and September to give more information about the free course and to solve one on one queries of prospective candidates.  https://www.pagalguy.com/news/toefl-go-vans-travelling-across-45719990
