FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination), 2016 is a screening test that is essential for Indian citizens who have acquired primary medical education from any other country but India. While the FMGE does not grant direct admission to a master’s programme, it ensures that the candidate gets a permanent or a provisional registration with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or a State Medical Council to practice in the country. The National Board of Examination (NBE) will be conducting the FMGE in 41 cities across India.
The examination is split in two parts, Part A and Part B. The reporting time for Part A is 9 am and 2.15 pm for Part B. Candidates must carry a printed copy of their admit card along with a valid identity proof such as the PAN card, voter’s ID, passport, AADHAAR card or driving licence. Candidates must ensure that the name on the admit card and that on the identity proof is the same. In case of any change, the candidate must carry documents that prove the change.
The screening test is a computer-based examination with 300 MCQs. Part A and B will both have 150 questions each. Though there is no negative marking, candidates must score a minimum of 150 marks out 300 to be declared as passed.
Part A of the examination will commence at 10 am and end at 12.45 pm, following which Part B will commence at 3.15 pm and end at 5.45 pm. The results of the examination will be declared on January 15, 2017 at the NBE office and will also be displayed on NBE’s official website.
