1. Regret: I’ve seen people, even from colleges like IIMs, who regret their decision to join a B-school, while they pursue their MBA. All of us, at some point think that we could have put more efforts and could have made it to a better B-school, may be next year or it would’ve been better if they had continued with their jobs, instead of going for an MBA. Such kind of thinking brings negativity in your mind, and must be avoided, as much as possible. Do remember, it was you who decided to join a particular B-school. So why regret? Great managers work hard (and smart too) and prove that they took the right decision at right time!
2. Compare: Most of the times, you start comparing your B-school with other B-schools, even after you join one. Comparing your B-school with better ones would frustrate you and comparing with a lower level B-school won’t do any good either. So its better to stay contended with the place you are in, with the people who are around, and try to convert the opportunities your college provides you.
3. Relax: As human beings, we’ve a tendency to do only those things, which are necessary and let go of the things, which are not so important for us. Then whether it be studies, extra-curricular, or it be final placements. Relaxing, just by being assured of your placements, is never going to help. There is numerous amount of activity which goes on 24*7, in every B-school across the nation. Do participate with full zeal; learn, unlearn, and relearn the things from peers, faculty, seniors, and even juniors. But sitting idle in a B-school would be the last thing you should think of!
4. Worry: This seems to be the most common trait among the B-school crowd these days. From the moment you enter a B-school, you start worrying. Initially to seek a place in the college committees, and then worry for your summer internship, then for your semester exams, for your relationship(s) and the list goes on and on. But what you don’t realize is that, worrying doesn’t help. Rather, it demotivates you, and you are not able to give your 100 percent, in most of the cases. No B-school is perfect, so better stop worrying, and start enjoying!
5. Confusion: People are confused, for everything, whether big or small. From the time of selecting a date for their CAT exam, to selecting the best B-school as per their criteria and then while deciding their subjects for the majors and minors, till the time of placements; they are confused. The catch is; those who’re clear with their mindset, and can visualize what they actually want to do in life, are the ones who realize their dreams. A clear thinking about your future prospects is always going to give you an edge over the others.
