The Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT-R), the organising institute for GATE 2017 (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) released the examination schedule on the official GATE portal. The test will be conducted on February 4, 5, 11, and 12, 2017; i.e. first and second weekend of that month.

February 4, 2017 (Saturday): Session 1 – 9 am to 12 pm (forenoon), Mechanical engineering, Architecture and Planning, and Textile engineering and Fibre Science
Session 2 – 2 pm to 5 pm (afternoon), Mechanical engineering, Agricultural engineering, and Geology and Geophysics
February 5, 2017 (Sunday): Session 3 – 9 am to 12 pm (forenoon), Electronics and Communication, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Ecology, and Evolution, Production and Industrial engineering
Session 4 – 2 pm to 5 pm (afternoon), Electronics and Communication, Aerospace engineering, Mathematics, Metallurgical engineering, Petroleum engineering, and Physics

GATE is an entrance exam for facilitating admissions in MTech and PhD in IITs, IISc (Indian Institute of Science) and various other institutes in India. The examination is conducted in 23 disciplines of engineering and science subjects. GATE scores are also being used as one of the criteria for recruitment in Government Organizations such as Cabinet Secretariat, and National/State Public Sector Undertakings in India.
