It was the evening of 8th April. I came back home from office. I went to website of XLRI. For last few days, it became a routine in my life to go on xlri.ac.in and check whether result has come out or not. To my surprise, link for result was open. My heart started pounding. I entered my XAT id and logged in. Screen was loading… and after longest 15 seconds of life, I saw the word “Congratulation”! My heart skipped a beat. And suddenly it dawned on me that I am going to become the XLer! My lifelong dream of going into best B-school of India was finally becoming a reality.
After this success, there were so many people who contacted me, congratulated me for my success and most importantly kept asking me what the secret of success is. Some of them went over the board and kept saying, “Sada, tu tho bahut intelligent hai tera to hona hi tha…” to be honest I always hated that line. This line always demeaned all the hard work that I put in making my dream come true. For the record in verbal section XAT 2013 I scored 52 percentile whereas in XAT 2014 it went to 96 percentile but more on that in some other blog. In my opinion, when you are fighting at top level, talent becomes useless virtue to possess. It is what you do with that talent becomes more important. In journey towards success, your talent can open first few gates, but it is your attitude which has ability to open ultimate gate of glory.
I think journey of the success starts with the dream. You have to dream it; you need to have that burning desire inside. Most people fail to understand the potential that they have. Whenever we see some success story, instead of getting inspiration from success, we tell our foolish mind that the person is more talented than us and we just cannot achieve it. This is the easiest way to convince the mind. STOP DOING THAT!
Having a dream is the first step but it is the easiest step in the journey. Difficult part starts from here. You have to believe that you can achieve your dream. More often than not people just don’t believe that they have got that what it takes to make it. Deep down they keep thinking that this is not going to happen. This is the biggest mistake that they do. When you set your mind on something, have faith that you can achieve it. There should not be a shred of doubt in your mind about possibility of success. You have to tell yourself that losing is not an option.
The reason that I am stressing more on this ‘belief’ part is that it becomes easier to work hard, to give everything for your dream when you have a faith in your dream. In any journey towards success, hard work has no other alternative. But when you don’t believe in your dreams, it becomes difficult to keep motivating yourself. The moment failure occurs, the moment you hit an obstacle; mind starts thinking negatively and that negativity has a potential to make you give up your dream. However when you believe that you can do it, every obstacle in a path becomes a lesson and you will improve yourself. Hence it doesn’t matter how many times you fall, keep believing that you have it in you.
In this world no one who has fulfilled his/her dream is GOD. They all are humans. They are not super talented. Only difference is, they dared to challenge their limits. They dreamt it. They believed that against every odd they can achieve what they dreamt. They work hard day in and day out to make it a reality and finally they are living their dream.
Ultimately, there is no better feeling than living your dream. We have this one life; we have got the chance to make a name for ourselves. Instead of telling yourself that you cannot do this, next time try telling yourself that you have the potential to make your dream a reality. Believe that you can make it happen. Work hard. Give everything for your dream. And then that day will come when your heart will skip a beat and tears will start rolling down the eyes. That will be a moment when you will be living your dream.
Dreams do come true! Dare to dream!
