New Delhi: As social media enters our home with alarming speed, it has also found a soft corner in hospitals. Yesterday, at AIIMS, Dr. Kapoor, an obstetrician refused to deliver babies if the parents have not enrolled for any ‘my baby cutest’ contest on Facebook and have not started preparing for the grilling contests to come.
This led to a lot of confusion in the hospital among the father figures and a lot of noise from the pregnant women, not because they were pregnant but generally you know, being women.
“We had to rush to the nearby Safdarjung Hospital as this sh*thead doctor refused to deliver the baby and wouldn’t let any other doctor in the hospital do it either. It was chaos, total chaos. We will sue this hospital”, said the father of a new-born, who refused to enroll for the contest and was denied service by Dr. Kapoor and AIIMS.
We tried to speak to the senior doctor who refused to deliver babies but he wasn’t available for comments. Sources say, the doctor was busy sending messages repeatedly to all his Facebook friends asking them to like a link with a photo of his 2-year-old son.
Upon digging deep into the matter, the hospital authorities say that Dr. Kapoor has been acting weird since last year when his son lost the contest by 4 votes and this year he has been very methodical about his approach for winning the contest. He has chalked out a plan with the help of a social media engagement manager to best tap the media and is also working on preparing some viral videos.
Our correspondent waited outside doctor’s room for about 2 hours and finally managed to ask a few questions from Dr. Kapoor :-
Bechara Bandhu: Sir, why would you refuse service to parents who have not enrolled for cute baby contests? Isn’t it their choice?
Dr. Kapoor: Yes, it’s their choice. But I refuse to offer my service to irresponsible parents. You only have at max 3 years to participate in these contests.
Bechara Bandhu: But, if you want your son to win the contest, wouldn’t you rather have other parents not enroll for the contest?
Dr. Kapoor: I believe in participating in these contests. This is something that has become more important to me than being a doctor. I want people to understand the importance of this activity.
Bechara Bandhu: What if the baby is not cute? I mean, not cute at all. Ugly in fact. What then?
Dr. Kapoor: That is not possible. All babies are cute. Look at the picture of my son.
Correspondent pukes on the picture and gets thrown out of the hospital.
