There is good news for lakhs of medical aspirants, who took the Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET) 2016, and were worried over the delay in the release of eligibility criteria for additional marks. The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER) has released the criteria under which a student can claim extra marks on its website.
The additional marks will add 1% to the student’s score in the MHT-CET. Additional marks will be for different categories such as sports, NCC, Goa-Hyderabad liberation movement participants, and Freedom Fighters.
Apart from filling the details on the online portal, the students also have to submit attested photocopies of the documents via post, on or before June 10, 2016.
It has come as a welcome relief to many students who feel that the additional one percent will make a huge difference to the merit list. An aspirant from Mumbai, Joshi, said, “There was a delay in releasing the eligibility criteria and the dates. Many of us thought that the additional won’t be applicable this time around, but I am relieved now.”
Students must not post the original documents as they will be required to produce the same for verification during the admission process in medical colleges.
