Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, Dwarka organized a Two-Day National Conference on 22nd and 23rd March,2018 and the theme for the conference was ‘Digital Interventions for Economic Growth.’ The Conference provided a forum to prominent speakers, management thinkers and professors to analyze the dimensions of digital interventions undertaken by the government, corporate organizations and entrepreneurs and its impact on the economy and the society.
LBSIM was honored by the presence of Shri Shekhar Dutt, Former Governor, Chhattisgarh, as the chief guest for the event. The keynote speaker, Shri Anil Bhardwaj, Advisor, TRAI.
The Address by The Chief Guest, Shri Shekhar Dutt followed the introduction, wherein he threw some light on the importance of efficient digitalization and how to skilfully handle it. He quoted, “Digitization will make all our activities in all the sectors cheaper and efficient. We must make all our industries and sectors equipped with digitization and for that, we must implement standard operating and training practices.” He also talked about India, being the third largest tech start up hub in the whole world and mentioned, “We have to think bigger and to achieve that our growth will have to be ‘n’ times that of the world.”
Shri Anil Bhardwaj, on the Key Note address for National Conference, highlighted how ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and its implementation has led to world perceive India as an IT hub nation. He said, “The size and scale of the digital portals like Facebook and Google have increased manifold. They have become the size of the largest states by revenue of the country”. He also quoted, “Internet and Digitization have helped in reducing information asymmetry; faster, cheaper, convenient transactions; and a more efficient supply chain management.”
The conference had a total of 4 Technical sessions. Post the Technical session 4, the Valedictory Session was organized and the theme of the session was “Digital Interventions for Economic Growth: Way Forward”.
A Special Address was given by the Guest of Honour for the day, Mr. Saurabh Jain, Head Paytm-Build for India, and he initiated the speech by talking about the history of currency and the evidences of first known accounting records being maintained in earlier periods. The legacy of this currency continued forward and today, we are dealing with digital ones. He concluded by saying, “Digital payment is the way forward and E-commerce is the facilitator in coming years.”
