1. Justice Amitava Roy took oath as Judge of Supreme Court

i. Chief Justice of Odisha High Court, Amitava Roy today sworn in as a judge of Supreme Court of India.

ii. He will serve the post for three years. He was appointed by the President of India.

iii. Earlier he was the Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court in 2013.

2. SEBI imposes Rs 26-cr penalty on DLF

i. SEBI has imposed the penalty of Rs. 26 crore on realty giant DLF for fraudulent and unfair trade practices.

ii. It also imposed penalty of similar amount Rs. 26 crore which has to be paid collectively by seven persons. This is the biggest ever penalty imposed by SEBI in a single case.

iii. For quashing key information by DLF at the time of IPO in 2007, SEBI has barred DLF and its top executives from markets last year in October.

3. Arundhati Bhattacharya on list of power businesswomen

i. Chairman and Managing Director of State Bank of India, Arundhati Bhattacharya has been named in the Forbes list of 50 ‘power businesswomen’.

ii. Forbes Asia’s 50 power businesswomen list showcase the achievements by entrepreneur and executives of the continent women.

iii. Apart from the SBI Chief, the list include name of six Indian women which are: Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, founder of Biocon; Chanda Kochhar, Managing Director and CEO of ICICI Bank; Shika Sharma, Managing Director and CEO of Axis Bank; Akhila Srinivasan, Managing Director of Shriram Life Insurance/ Shriram Capital; and Usha Sangwan, Managing Director of Life Insurance Corporation of India.

iv. SBI Chief with assets of $ 300 billion and 225 million, referred as the first lady of Indian banking and Chief of India’s largest bank.

4. Kshatrapati Shivaji appointed new CMD of SIDBI

i. Kshatrapati Shivaji appointed as the new CMD of Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI).

ii. He has been appointed for three years.
Presently he is a Principal Secretary (Expenditure), Finance Department in
Maharashtra government.

5. Yes Bank to open
970 more branches across the country

i. India’s leading private sector bank, Yes
bank has announced to open 970 more branches across the country in the next three
years.

ii. Currently bank has total 630 branches across
the country.

iii. According to R. Ravichander, the group
president and head of business development (south) we wanted to achieve a balance
sheet of Rs.1.50 lakh crore, 750 branches and 12,000 employees by 2015.

6. AB-de-Villiers smashes fastest ODI 150, South Africa
defeated West Indies by record 257-run

i. South Africa defeated West Indies by record
257 run in Pool B match in World Cup played in Sydney today.

ii. South African captain AB-de-Villiers smashes
fastest ODI 150 runs in just 64 balls. He finished 162 not out in 64 balls helped
South Africa to reach the huge total of 408/5 in 50 overs. This is the second
highest total in World Cup.

iii. West Indies were 151 all out in 33.1 overs.
Imran Tahir took 5 wickets in the match.

iv. West Indies opener Chris Gayle, who scored
the first double-hundred in World Cups against Zimbabwe on Tuesday, scored only
three before he was bowled by Kyle Abbott.

v. Earlier India scored 413/5 against Bermuda
at Port of Spain in 2007 World Cup.
