1. Exim
Bank to provide $22.5 million line of credit to Gambia

i. Exim Bank will provide a line of credit of USD
22.5 million to Gambia for financing eligible goods, machinery, equipment and
services including consultancy services for the greater Banjul area in Gambia.

ii. The line of credit (LoC) is for financing electrification expansion project for
the greater Banjul area in Gambia.

2.  Ratnakar Bank ties up with IBM for mobile app
development

i. Ratnakar Bank Ltd. (RBL) has inked a deal with IBM
to use the latter’s MobileFirst Platform to build, deploy and manage its
applications.

ii. The deal aimed
at improving the overall customer experience and stickiness, besides employee
engagement.

iii. RBL will also integrate the IBM
MobileFirst Platform with its core banking system to ensure secure
transactions.

iv. In
addition, both IBM and RBL will build a set of internal apps for employees to improve
workplace productivity.

3. Indian Navy conducted HADR
Exercise 

i. A large scale Humanitarian Assistance and
Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise conducted by Indian Navy in the Lakshadweep
Islands (Karavati, Aggatti, Kalpeni and Androth).

ii. The Exercise simulated a major cyclone
striking the Lakshdweep Islands and disrupting essential services, causing
widespread destruction of property, loss of life and dislocation of personnel,
and was designed to validate the Indian Navy’s capability to provide immediate
succor and relief to the affected populace.

iii. The Exercise involved setting up medical
camps, provision of food, shelter from the elements, restoration of basic
facilities and limited restoration work till the situation stabilised.

iv. This Exercise will further underscore the nation’s capabilities in being
the ‘first responder’ in the region during times of humanitarian crises.

4. Rashtriya Khel Protsahan
Puruskar plan revises by Sports Min

i. Sports
Ministry has revised the scheme of Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar, which was
introduced to encourage involvement of corporates and sports promotion boards
in the development of sports in the country.

ii. According to the revised
plan, Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar scheme, which was introduced in 2009,
will now be given in four categories: Identification and nurturing of budding
talent, Encouragement of sports through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR),
Employment of sportspersons and sports welfare measures and Sports for
Development.

iii. “In
the revised Scheme, eligibility criteria for all four categories have been
prescribed. As ‘Training to promote rural sports, nationally recognized sports,
Paralympic sports and Olympic sports’ have been included in the Schedule VII of
the Companies Act 2013,” Sports Ministry said in a release.

5. CSK moves to new subsidiary of India Cements

i. Chennai Super Kings, the IPL team fronted by BCCI’s president-in-exile N
Srinivasan-led India Cements, was on Wednesday transferred to a wholly owned
subsidiary named Chennai Super Kings Cricket Ltd.

ii. Earlier on September 26, 2014, the board of directors
of the company had approved the proposal to demerge CSK into a wholly-owned
subsidiary of the company, by transferring its net assets at cost. It had also
stated that the effective date of transfer will be January 1, 2015.

iii. The apex court had also directed that BCCI elections be
held in six weeks “subject to the condition that no one who has any
commercial interest in BCCI events (including N Srinivasan) shall be eligible
for contesting the elections for any post whatsoever.”
