“They always say time changes things, but actually you have to change them yourself” – Andy Warhol. The change in focus today can’t take place in an hour or a month. It requires years of hard-work and sacrifices to undo the harms done, to our nation, in name of caste, creeds and even aam adami for over 60 years. I am talking about the change which saw people coming out of their houses on election days to give their mandate. I am talking about the change which saw the whole nation united against corruption. I am talking about the change which saw the rise of Aam Adami.
But that was it , results came out and with a lot scuffles and belated jubilation , a political party with clean rather no track record came into power. We had high expectations and our motto was “Arvind, give us change, and give it right now.” Arvind tried to bring in many populist changes expediently as he is leading a minority government and has national dreams. In midst of all this something went wrong, suddenly the ‘change-fanatics’ started to raise their voices against this aam adami. Pictures and memes depicting the honesty and sacrifices of his party now got modified, to tell the nation about his two face nature and lies. Suddenly we got aware for our castes and retorted to hoodlum-ism in order to show our anguish over comments made by his party people.
I agree some of actions proposed and speeches given by this new & inexperienced party is highly questionable, but when I try to count the number of days this party has been in power I simply don’t get it. What are we protesting against ??? Our country saw 9 scams in 9 years ,we didn’t protest until Anna Hazare sat on hunger strikes . Our country saw multiples riots ,gruesome genocides , we didn’t protest until it was the time for Lok Sabha elections again . In a country where every citizen is born with a caste and subsequent reservation certificate, what are we protesting against ? Are we protesting against the mistake we committed ; the change we tried to bring ?
It saddens my heart to see that crores of exchequer’s money is being spent for a better public image by national parties. Contracts are being awarded to foreign firms to inject enthusiasm on social media for prime ministerial candidates. Paid Print and TV media taking sides with their half-cooked articles on politically motivated activities just before elections. We are the learned young generation of this country, we claim to understand all of this . But I guess , the coming elections is going to teach us the same old lesson that “History repeats itself.” Frankly, I think I am being cynical here, but we deserve this . We have asked for a change and change it shall be ……………………………………
