“I really want every IIM-ian and MBA grad to read this. I am a woman and I passed out in 2008 from one of the top three IIMs. During my days at IIM , I was approached by many guys , mostly by those who were in the clubs and committees and thought they were some hotshots. A few also took my friendship as God knows what and also tried to jump upon me and get touchy-feely , and some even had the audacity to say that they would like to ‘sleep’ with me ( they used other words to convey that ) . Worse was yet to come. When I joined one of the leading corporate houses , in my second year there , just a few days before appraisal my boss took me out for dinner and asked me to join me for drinks after that at his place and stay back as he wanted to ‘discuss my career path’ with me ( I joined a fresher and maybe he took that to be my gullibility) .I didn’t oblige and very soon , I was shifted to some role which had no meaning. I left that job and now I am working as a consultant in a much smaller firm . I do not want to generalise, but I have found this attitude among some MBAs , especially IIM-ians and those top tier ones…..

There is yet another post, she is not an MBA grad but she gathered the guts to file a police complaint against her sleazy MBA boss. Read on https://www.facebook.com/iimconfessions/posts/41901393818257

PaGaLGuY spoke to the MBA student who said she did not file a complaint then. “Then I asked for other women to come forward so that we could jointly make a complaint. No one did. But tomorrow, if I have to file a police complaint alone, I would.”

Sexual harassment is not exactly like a menace in b-schools but very few may have not been host to a case or two. And because of this there are Gender Sensitivity Committees like they have in MICA and IIM-B. Says Dr Shubhra Gaur, Chairperson of the committee at MICA. “We make students aware of gender equality and sensitivity all and we organise poster and script writing competitions to get the message across”

Many other b-schools have similar activities. But do they help or are they as much lip service as the road morchas that every high-profile rape case attracts?

“No, theory work cannot change the minds and attitudes of either men or women. Nothing prepares you for the signals that you need to be beware of at the workplace or even in college,” said another sexually-harassed woman. The victim, rather survivor said that practical training in dealing with offenders can actually serve as the real training in a b-school than just painting horrific pictures.
