Registrations for the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) February 2013 have been extended to January 9, 2013. The registrations were supposed to come to a close yesterday. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) seems to be making a habit of extending the registration dates for CMAT. They had done so early last year (from January 9 to January 22) and in the September 2012 version as well (September 2 to September 7).
Confirming the new development, Mr. SS Mantha, Chairman, AICTE said: “We received the letter of acceptance from the Haryana government only a few days back. Hence, we are extending the registrations.” When told that the registration deadlines for CMAT have been repeatedly extended, Mr. Mantha stated, “This is just the third CMAT. We want to give adequate opportunities for everyone to take the exam. Had we not extended the dates this time, students from Haryana would have complained about it.”
When asked about the status of other states, Mr. Mantha told PaGaLGuY that AICTE has written to the other states and awaiting replies from them. However, states such as Tamil Nadu who are opposed to the CMAT will not take the exam and will continue with its own Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) this year.
The exam will be conducted from February 21-25, 2013 and the results will be declared on March 13, 2013.
