The lucky ones who have made the cut in the recently declared JEE Mains result, mind it, the game is not over yet. There’s something more to bother about, and that is your Class 12 result. It matters and will decide your final rank in IIT JEE.
The excitement and anxiousness is palpable among the student community. The engineering aspirants and their parents are a worried lot; they have flooded the various social networking sites with queries related to the final admission process.
By now, the students are in the know. They are more or less sure of their score in the Board exams, which has added to their woes as it will decide the final rank. There is an added concern about cutoffs of various colleges and different branches in the colleges of their choice.
Students must bear in mind that Board exams are game changers in an all-India exam such as IIT JEE. In 2015, Sankalp Gaur from Pune had secured the first rank in JEE Mains. He got 97.80 % in his Board exam. Another student, Giridhar Shyamkumar, who secured 98% in Board exam, had bagged the third rank in JEE Mains.
Prof R.L. Trikha, Director, FIITJEE, said, “Students should wait for their respective Boards to declare the class 12 exam results. The normalization process that kicks in at this stage can turn results upside down.”
