Clarification

This clarification is issued in light of the reportage coming in from various TV news channels about the “leak” of the CAT 2004 results on PaGaLGuY.com. We would like to clarify that yesterday (20/12/04), one of the registered members of the forums had posted a thread(a discussion) on the forum giving a link which was only a slight change from the URL of the previous year’s link, which is available on IIM-Lucknow’s site. This, we believe, is NOT a “leak” as the link was available in the open and there wasn’t any explicit notice on the site barring outsiders from accessing that page. At no point did we have any result on our servers. The only link we had, pointed to IIMA’s servers and they removed the page. It may very well have been a test web page. We are appalled that a few news channels have tried to give a completely misleading picture to the general public at large.

PaGaLGuY.com forums have been active for over two years now and have been a knowledge-sharing and knowledge-building initiative like no other. In any online community, any information by any member (access open to all with free registration) is treated in good faith and taken at face value. The PaGaLGuY.com discussion forums, more so, are one that has members posting from all parts of India and abroad and like in any other online bulletin board, the veracity and copyright of the post rests with the original poster.

Over the past couple of years, PaGaLGuY.com has become one of the most indispensable discussion boards for any CAT aspirant in India. Our initiatives in Community Service, through our Open Source Community Model, are slowly, but surely spreading the spirit of volunteering amongst the Indian youth.

Update: 2 AM: Times of India posts the exact happening as chronicled by them. We concur with them about this as this is exactly the way it happened.

It is a shame that a a couple of TV channels have simply chosen to sensationalize the issue without even a basic understading of how the result process works and without appropriate information or clarification from the parties involved.

IIM-A has dealt with this issue with the utmost transparency and integrity, reinforcing its image as to why it is known to the best bschool in India. Hats off to them.
