Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts the board examinations for the students of classes 10 and 12. The board exam is held once every year for the students. These examinations hold a lot of importance for the students because they often determine their admissions to schools or colleges and are considered during the time of recruitments and other such applications.
Scoring good marks in the CBSE Board examinations are not that difficult. It only requires thorough and year-round preparation. Candidates have to appear for various subjects, but English in class 12 is a compulsory subject. This means that all students in class 12 have to appear for the examination of English. While some students may consider English to a difficult subject in general, several students also often find English to be a tough subject to score in.

The Class 12 English question paper is of 80 marks in total. The paper is divided into three parts – Section A, Section B and Section C. Here are a few tips that the students can make a note of, in order to improve their preparations for the CBSE English exam –
- Regularly read newspapers and other scholarly articles. Make a habit of noting difficult words and sentences to improve the vocabulary.
- It is very important to practice writing everyday. Try writing at least one report speech, article and other such write ups. Students can take up topics from sample papers and other similar books.
- Students must time themselves while writing practice. This helps them improve their speed and increase their thinking capacity in a smaller period of time. This also adds to the improvement of their handwriting.
- NCERT books must be followed like the bible of CBSE exams. All the chapters and poems in these books are of extreme importance and must be emphasized on by the students. Students must also inculcate the habit of practicing writing answers for the literature portion.
- While writing the exam on the main day, think before you write should be every student’s maxim. Proper thought should be given to the framework of the answer.
- Students should avoid scribbling and cutting on their answer sheets. Not only can it cause them to delay during their but also lead to untidy work. Untidy works resonate a lack of confidence with the examiner.
- It is advisable to write short and to the point answers. Grammatical errors should be avoided.
