The British Council (BC) has published a public notice on its official website warning students against receipt of fraudulent IELTS test report forms/job interviews/certificates. IELTS test takers have lodged complaints with the British Council regarding such letters on counterfeit letterheads, in exchange for monetary considerations. A British Council representative in India said, “We do not send such letters to the general public or IELTS test takers. All communication from the BC to the general public takes place through the official website.”
People have been asked to communicate any such fraudulent letters to security.ielts@in.britishcouncil.org, and confirm their verity with the British Council before taking any action. In any case, the general public should refrain from making any monetary transactions in the name of British Council through such letters.
