Blithchron meaning ‘time of festivity’, is the inter-college fest of IIT Gandhinagar. The 8th edition of this fest that happened on 30th and 31st January, 2016, witnessed a whooping footfall of approximately ten thousand people. This footfall was quite an achievement for IIT Gandhinagar as we recently transitioned to our permanent campus in Palaj (Gandhinagar). It reflects on the kind of popularity this fest attracts, and its loyal followers who are willing to travel to the outskirt of the city to be a part of the ‘1st edition of Blithchron at IIT Gandhinagar Palaj campus.
Blithchron’16 had two stellar musical nights on campus. On day 1, there was Lagori, a Bangalore based Indian rock/pop 5-piece band, who opened their performance with a bang and infused the same energy into the crowd. And day 2 of Blithchron concluded on a very high note by the much awaited Sunburn on Campus ft. Kash Trivedi and Miss Tara. Their astounding performance resonated in the entire campus and enthralled the audience.
The fest has become more than just a fun festival in the last 7 years. It has some really amazing crowd-favourite flagship events that attract people from various colleges and institutes. Events like Antaragnee (the street play competition), String theory (the clash of bands), Synchronize (the group dance competition), Euphony (solo-singing competition), Mr & Miss Blithchron (talent show), The Butler Did it (where you play detective), Jobless (a mock interview competition) and Panache (the fashion show) are highly popular among top colleges across Ahmedabad & Gandhinagar. Apart from these, Blithchron also has all-day long informal events.

The Blithchron’16 team had put in tremendous efforts to make this fest successful despite some unavoidable challenges. Shrey Shah, convener of Blithchron’16 said, “This time the fest had a different dynamics all together. We are now in our new campus which is 30km away from the city and we have to give people a reason to travel so far to be a part of this two-day festival.” The dedicated efforts of the entire team finally paid off & Blithchron’16 was a hit, just like its tag line which says ‘never a dull moment’!
