The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) authorities released the Information Brochure for Main 2017 on its official portal. The brochure has all the details that an aspirant would want to know about the exam.
Candidates can only fill the JEE Main 2017 form online, and they must submit only one application form. If multiple applications are submitted by a candidate, then he/she will be rejected. Also while filling the application form, candidates must write the name of his/her parents exactly as registered in class 12 or equivalent qualifying examination. No prefix/title such as Mr/Shri/Fr/Dr/Mrs/Smt/Col etc should be used.
The application fee for JEE Main 2017 is given below:
For Indian nationals, for Bachelor in Engineering/Bachelor in Technology (Paper I) or Bachelor in Architecture (Paper II) –
For male candidates
For General and Other Backward classes– Rs 1,000 for pen and paper-based exam, and Rs 500 for computer-based exam
For Scheduled Caste, and Scheduled Tribe – Rs 500 for pen and paper-based exam, and Rs 250 for computer-based exam
For female candidates
For General and Other Backward classes– Rs 500 for pen and paper-based exam, and Rs 250 for computer-based exam
For Scheduled Caste, and Scheduled Tribe – Rs 500 for pen and paper-based exam, and Rs 250 for computer-based exam
For both Paper I and Paper II
For male candidates
For General and Other Backward classes– Rs 1,800 for pen and paper-based exam, and Rs 1,300 for computer-based exam

Students must note that the application fee once paid will not be refunded (full or partial) under any circumstances. It can be paid either by credit card/debit card/e-wallet (SBI Buddy/Paytm) or through e-challan generated during the online filling of the application form.
In case of e-challan, payment should be made in either of the the four banks – Syndicate / Canara / ICICI / HDFC Bank in cash. Please note that fee submitted by any other mode like money order, demand draft, IPO etc. will be rejected.
In case the examination fee is paid through credit/debit card, the candidates will need to pay an additional processing charge as well. Candidates must check the status of fee payment on the official portal. One can login to their account on JEE portal and if the status is ‘OK’, the candidate will be able to take a printout of Acknowledgement Page.
In case, the fee payment status is not ‘OK’ the candidates are advised as follows:
- If the fee is paid through e-challan by depositing cash in above-mentioned banks, the candidate should immediately contact the concerned bank to update his/her fee status on the website.
- If the fee is paid through credit/debit card and status is not OK, it means the transaction is cancelled and the amount will, automatically, be refunded to concerned credit/debit card within 7 – 10 days. Therefore, such candidates have to pay the fee once again and ensure the ‘OK’ fee status.
