Nothing supplements a well-written article better than a strong accompanying visual. And there are two ways you can add photos to your articles on Channels.
1. The Cover Image – This is the image that will appear alongside your article each time it is shared on PaGaLGuY, or other social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. You can add a cover image by clicking on the icon that appears above the post title field in the editor.
We strongly recommend adding a cover photo to every article you write to make it eye-catching for your audience.
2. Accompanying Images, Photo Features – Channels allows you to weave your article with accompanying images inline. To add a photo inside an article, hover your mouse over the main content area and click on the ‘+’ icon that appears on the left margin. You can either upload photos from your device or fetch an image on the Internet by providing its URL.
Where to get beautiful photos from
We at Channels have great respect for copyright, and would strongly encourage you to only use images that the owners have licensed out to you.
There are two great places to find high-quality free-to-use images on the Internet,
1. Flickr.com – Ask the ‘Advanced Search’ on Flickr to select only those images with a ‘Creative Commons’ free-to-use-commercially license.
2. 500px.com – Search for photos with either of the ‘Attribution’, ‘Attribution-NoDerivs’ or ‘Attribution-ShareAlike’ licenses in the filter.
To understand how various Creative Commons licenses work, see this.
Try to use beautiful and high-quality photography that directly or metaphorically relate to the theme of your article. Avoid using low-resolution images.
