‘Perfect’. In how many ways can we understand this word ? Flawless, talented, delightful, exact ? Well, whatever it means, it carries different connotations for different people. And so does the idea of a perfect day.
I’m wondering what to write about and suddenly this question about a perfect day pops up in my head. We wake up with different mindsets and go to bed with different mindsets. Some of us wake up with a cheerful smile, sip a cup of tea/coffee, accompanied by the morning newspaper. Some of us wake up lazily, cursing even our toothbrush which has to be rubbed regularly. For some of us, it is an important day with a lot of work in the office or appearing for an exam/interview. For some, it is a mundane day with nothing much to do. It is said that the first hour of the day after we wake up determines how our day may pass. Those people who succeed are those who make the most of this first hour.
On the same lines, a perfect day also holds different views. For some, it may be inking bigger deals; for some it may be earning a promotion; for some it may be making a profit. For students, it may be scoring high marks in an exam; for teachers, it may be teaching an enthusiastic group. When we gather in the evening to discuss the day’s happenings, we discover that atleast one person has had a perfect day. That’s because something good has happened in his/her life which is directly/indirectly related to that person. Others have had either an average day or a bad day. Then how do we get this ‘perfect day’ ?
A perfect day, in my opinion, is all about contentment. All that a person needs at the end of the day is contentment, because out of this stems happiness. And contentment can be achieved when we control our desires. When I imagine the life of winners, I find that they’ve had more perfect days than many of us. That’s because they derived contentment from their work. So it’s like – Rise early, cheerfully, thanking the Lord is your choice, think positive, wish your elders a ‘Good Morning’, enjoy the blue sky, the birds, the green trees. Get ready, have a light breakfast, and get on with your work. Do what you love to do, with full dedication. Share your joys with your friends. Achieve something different if you can. Listen to music, hang out for a while. Read books, keep yourself among vibrant things. Laugh and make others laugh. Share a biscuit with that stray dog. Play with children in your area. Help others if possible. It is not necessary to do all of these, but do as much as you can. It will surely change your day. At night, recollect the happy moments and remember them. It is ‘YOU’ who can make your day perfect, rather than waiting for a perfect day.
