Yesterday India lost the chance to become the only country to win two T20 world cups. India hadn’t lost a single match in the whole tournament. The team looked really good. What happened then? Why did we lose? Here are the four reasons Why, I believe, India Lost.

1) In all the matches India won in the tournament, Virat Kohli played a very crucial role. It would not be wrong to say that he is the only consistent batsman in the Indian batting squad. So, basically Indian batting squad had become a one man army. This was India’s biggest drawback.

2) Opening pair: To win a match as crucial as a world cup final, your opening pair must at least put 50 runs on board. Rohit Sharma wasn’t entirely out of form but was not up to the mark too. More than Sharma, it was the other opener who has to be blamed. Ajinkya Rahane didn’t proved to be the best alternative for Shikhar Dhawan. So what hurt India most is the form of Shikhar Dhawan.

3) M.S. Dhoni’s over confidence on Yuvraj: No doubt Yuvraj Singh is one of the best T20 player India has ever seen but its all about the current form of the batsman. He might have hit six sixes in an over in some another age* but he has entirely failed in this tournament. 60 runs he scored against Australia were more from the edges and less from the middle of the bat. Well, now Yuvi might have realize luck doesn’t work every time. Sending Yuvraj after Sharma’s dismissal was Dhoni’s mistake. (Riana or Dhoni himself should have come at this point.)

4) After Yuvraj’s dismissal, very few overs were left and everyone knows Dhoni takes some balls to set first. No doubt he is the best finisher or good in death overs but I believe, Riana would have done good at this point (looking at his knock against South Africa). If Dhoni wanted to bat, he should have come after Sharma.Throughout the tournament, bowlers have shown good performance and they are not to be blamed for they did everything they could do to defend a miniature total like 130.

Apart from blaming Indian batting squad, we should also give some credits to Sri Lanka for their overall performance and especially how they bowled in death overs.
