Recruiters at GIM came from varied sectors: Management Consulting, FMCG & consumer durables, Banking & Financial Services, IT & ITES, Automotive & Manufacturing, Telecom, Media, Travel, and Education. Companies participating in the placement process for the first time included Hindustan Unilever Ltd., Centurion Bank of Punjab, Aracna, Capegemini, Motilal Oswal, Eclerx Services, Pididlite Industries, Big FM, State Bank of India, Thomas Cook (I) Ltd., Adventity, Tata Capital, Wipro Consumer Care, Mercer Consulting, HSBC Professional Services, Citiglobal Services, Mphasis-EDS, and Reliance Life Insurance.
IT/ITES were the main recruiters and made highest offers, a total of 92, out of which 55 were accepted. Banking & Financial Services attracted 34 students after making 55 offers. Three out of seven offers made by Automotive & Manufacturing sector were accepted. Nine students preferred telecom sector which made 13 offers, and eleven students went to the FMCG domain which also had made 13 offers. However, Management consulting saw only one offer being made and accepted.
In an interesting development, a student of Goa Institute of Management got a revised offer of 12.1 lakhs from Marico which had offered her a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) of 7.5 Lakh as she was judged the third best summer trainee among several trainees.
