Joint Entrance Examination – Main (JEE-Main), previously All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE), is an examination composed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in India. Introduced in the year 2002, this national competitive test is for admission to different undergrad building and design courses in establishments tolerating the AIEEE score, mostly 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and 23 Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs).
The examination comprises of just two papers: Paper 1 for B.E./B. Tech courses and Paper 2 for BArch courses. An applicant can decide on any or both the papers. Paper 1 is compulsorily a PC based test (called online mode) from 2019. Till 2018, there was an alternative between OMR based and PC based mode.

The first JEE (Main) Examination for the year was directed by NTA between 8th and12th January 2019 through two shifts for every day over 258 urban areas in the nation and abroad. The answer key has been given medium specific for both first and second session during for the paper-1.
The next Joint Entrance Examination (Mains) will be conducted in the month of April. The application process for the next JEE (Main) examination will start by 8th February 2019 and will last until 7th March 2019 (1 month). The candidates who wish to give a second try to improve their scores may do so during this time. However, those candidates who feel that their first attempt has given them high results can submit the same. The best of the two scores from the two examinations will be considered during the time of admission.
