In the first phase of Placements 2015-16 at the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H), start-ups have made a beeline to recruit students. The institute has observed a significant rise in the number of start-ups registered for placements this year.
The recruitment process has commenced with a wide array of significant recruiters coming on campus with domestic and off-shore offers. With two sessions being held per day, companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Adobe, Indeed and Walmart among others have started their process to identify and recruit for their India and overseas offices.

Speaking about the trend, TV Deviprasad, head-placements, IIIT-H said, “We are seeing a substantial increase in the number of registrations by students as well as companies for placements. The growing trend of start-ups is clearly visible, as one-third of companies which have registered for the first round are start-ups, and they are also offering competitive packages as compared to the big players. We expect a package-wise increase of around 15-20% this year.”
Around 396 students have registered for the placements this year as compared to 107 last year. Of this, around 91% of the under-graduation and post-graduation batch has been placed. There have been around 10 core profile and 45 non-core profile placements so far this season, as compared to 16 core profiles and 45 non-core profiles for the last season. The first round of placements will finish by December 31, 2015.
The second round of placements are set to begin from January onwards and will conclude by April 2016. There will be no deferred placements as the institute follows One Student One Offer policy.
