The state board examinations in Maharashtra fall under the responsibility of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE). The board not only looks into the education system in the state of Maharashtra but also carries out the board examination for classes 10 and 12 on an annual basis. Maharashtra board is set to conduct the board examinations for classes 10 and 12 in the upcoming year, 2020.
The process of registration for this exam had started on 3rd October, 2019 and will be ending by 23rd October 2019. The examination will be conducted in the months of February and March in the upcoming year. Thus, this is the peak time for preparations. If students want to score the best marks in these exams, they need to be thorough with the courses of all the subjects.

For the correct, systematic and orderly preparation, students must have knowledge about the examination pattern. This is extremely important for Maharashtra Board examinations as several revisions were made for the same in both, exam pattern and evaluation scheme. Therefore students must definitely make a note of all the changes in the exam pattern. The changes are as follows –
- 25% objective questions have been added : The board has introduced 25% more objective questions in the form of MCQs.
- Total marks for Final Assessment have been decreased : A major change in the HSC Examination pattern is that the marks for the overall assessment have been reduced to 600 from 650. This means that the final the marks in the exam will be calculated out of 600.
- Introduction of internal assessment : By the introduction of internal assessments, subjects will carry 20 marks for the purpose of practical tests while the written paper will be for 80 marks. The 20 marks for the practical will further be subdivided according to listening skills (5 marks), oratory skills (5 marks) and subject related activity (10 marks).
These changes will be applicable for all students who will be appearing for the Maharashtra board examination in 2020. While the schedule for the exam is yet to be released by the board, students must dive deep into the preparation process from now itself. This is the time when students will be able to analyse the exam paper pattern and make a schedule for the preparations.
