Hi Puys..

Not a dilemma.. may b just need a reassurance form seniors..

I have converted IIM-Indore.. I am working in an IT company since the last yr..earning some 30k a mnth(despite being form an NIT, chose not to opt for core jobs..and hence had to settle for IT and the salary). have a decent academic record.. Now to pursue my MBA... I'l have to take a loan of 15 lakh+ and will have to repay it all by myself.. no family backing as such.. and considering that the placement scenario hasnt been all that great recently.. Is it okay to get myself into such a big debt..so early in my career!! I know its an IIM and all.. and I know how difficult it is to get there.. i am just a little scared of the hugee loan! Need opinions of people who have already gone through this situation..

Progress is impossible without change & those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything

I am not judging or something. but when you said, you r from NIT and working in an IT company @30k, leaving all core jobs, I thought this mite be the best opportunity to get things straight, which If I may say, mite have gone wrong unintentionally.

You are not alone bro! Not to brag, but even I am from IIIT and working in an IT company. Luck?? placements? hardwork? yaa tell me about it. still struggling to amend certain tarnished aspects. and when I saw your post, may be due to own conflicting fate, I thought you are joking.

No judgements. No issues. congos for your convert. I would again say bro! In my perspective, this could be the opportunity to uncoil that heavily coiled string. BEST OF LUCK

DEVILISHANGEL @robinscherbatsk I also believe that iit/nit/iim etc are all over hyped but the smart person who is just pure awesome and also happens to have a couple of degrees that sound cool on the resume. (The only two reasons I got an MBA was because no one would otherwise give me a job in Marketing + No one would publish my yet-unpublished-piece of *to-be* world famous fiction/non-fiction - and yeah i have verified my theory). India is a sucker for names unfortunately, so be smart and be smart and also get the degree young to make the best of it. In India most of MBA is about the "OH Effect" sadly for most of the others, for yourself, you can choose to "Ohh" others or actually make something out of yourself but for both reasons, you need an MBA from the "OH"varsities

ankita14 So what would be your alternative? Giving CAT again/sticking to your job?
Not saying it is not a risk but if you work hard there, you should probably get a 10 lakh+ job with not much trouble, which will enable you to repay the debt in 2-3 years, provided you live hand to mouth-ishly. Depends more on what you actually want to do.

DEVILISHANGEL @ankita14 but A and B are at 17 now. and C was due for increase this year...any which way my point stays extremely valid - rising mba cost vs sliding mba placement (as an ROI and %age of Good Profiles + rising Intake every where + more b-schools opening) so faster joining is better unless you have a stellar profile and you have work-ex below 24 months (perfect for you )
