Hi All,

I am b.Tech Graduate from BIT,Mesra,Ranchi and passed out in 2008 from ECE branch(with 67%, 12th -61% and 10th -68%).Basically i am from Jaipur.I am working from last 4.5 years in IT industry and in jaipur in private IT company.Now i am looking for MBA.I want to took guidance that for which MBA i should go and basically what is difference between 1 year Executive MBA and Regular 2 year MBA.Is executive is also equivalent same as 2 year Regular MBA.In future also i want to do job in jaipur only due to some reasons But yeah i can do 1 year Executive MBA from any good B-School .Now i m fed up of coding so want to do MBA and want to change stream and want to work in management work.It can be either Telecom company,IT company,Bank, etc etc.

Can any one guide me pls .

Neo2000 IIRC, the AICTE doesn't even recognize them as MBA - hence the PGDBM. Only those degrees offered by Universities are recognized as an MBA. Now, when I say world-wide recognition it's true - an IIM grad could walk into any top firm and say I did an MBA from the IIMs and they aren't going to question him and say "No, you did only an MiM". The degree is recognized as being equivalent to an MBA.

Coming to AMBA, please note that some of earliest business schools were started in the US. Thus the AACSB is the oldest body for accreditation. the AMBA is more global in nature since the AACSB, atleast in the early days, only accredited US b-schools and the AMBA was a way to focus on non-US b-schools - specifically European b-schools.

Whatever happens, this discussion is pointless. How the degree is recognized in the market is important. One can be nitpicky and say it's an MiM but nobody cares. I repeat - The degree is recognized as being equivalent to an MBA. and that is all that matters.
