how is it that an institute like SIBM or SCMHRD can open registration for the written exam, conduct the exam, send calls, conduct GD-PIs, declare the final shortlist and end the admission process COMPLETELY within 2 months while the 'esteemed' IIMs take all the time from oct 2012 to may 2013??? 8...

how is it that an institute like SIBM or SCMHRD can open registration for the written exam, conduct the exam, send calls, conduct GD-PIs, declare the final shortlist and end the admission process COMPLETELY within 2 months while the 'esteemed' IIMs take all the time from oct 2012 to may 2013??? 8 months?!! any longer and that's a whole year!!! and these ppl are going to teach us 'management'!!!

girishks @pmcsic @amitdkool @Asadali : i never said that SIBM or SCMHRD were better institutes...but u cannot deny that IIMs are the mecca only coz of their placements and the brand name...tomorrow if SIBM gets better placements, tell me, wouldn't u be all dying to go there instead??
and 8 months is a very long time for a selection process!!!it's one-third of the total duration of their PGDM programme...and forget abt the time, they did not even announce dates for declaration of the results...that is just cruel!!! SIBM had declared their dates already...now that's efficiency...set a deadline and be able to keep it too....and all the excuses abt the no of interview centres and applicants - that's just childish...u forget that u r comparing 13 IIMs to 1 SIBM...obviously the candidate are more in number...do u think such excuses work in the corporate world??? try complaining abt the quantity of work at ur workplace and then u'll see...

vampgm @girishks what you seem to have forgotten the most is that IIMs are top colleges - only placements and faculty front. Their administration sucks big time. They are after all Sarkari colleges and we know how our government functions. SIBM on the other hand is a private college. And we know how efficient private sector. Simple as it is.

Cmon dude...go and check...they treat u like a star...they let u sit comfortably and then talk to u on any matter....They may be a sarkari place but not a single process is sarkari....well that has happened to me and thats y I can say this...

I have heard that NMIMS is not returning fee as there is no other list being declared by the same.Are they trying to engulf higher percentilers on the expense of money? IS THAT TRUE?

Asadali @PKDK For ur kind information even I have paid money to 3 institutes. And am not trying to have a different opinion here... I dont understand ur attitude where you bash a college which you want to get into.. I mean how can yu demand so less of urself. Why want to get admission in a college which you feel is not doing justice to you? Anyway I am nowhere related to your expectations and ur demands.. So carry on with your "Dharna" on Pagalguy... Asadali @ziddu69 Dude i agree on this part. People have to really shell out a lot of money. And I am in the same boat. But there is very little that we can do in this regard. Nobody wants to miss out on a good college. And the admission process of institutes is such that there are so many overlaps. But what can an institute do to help us if thee waitlist is not moving or for some reason it has been withheld. Rest assured they are not playing with us. Just that certain things take time. I totally agree that there is a lot of anxiety among the waitlisters but that should not come out in the form of defaming a college or its worth. Had it not been so worthy people would not have been simply wasting their time around on this forum. @PKDK @DarkJedi Sorry if any of my post offended you. I agree you people are anxiously waiting for the movement but at the same time you people are also going to be future managers. So you should also be a bit patient. All the best. I wish all the waitlisters out here make it into the institute.

gauravak hey nobody has got any mail, its just that the final offer letter given to the converted candidates (attached on the previous page of this topic) talks about declaration that aggregate of all subjects has to be above the cut offs, and our original marksheets need to be deposited at the time of registration to verify the same.
so i guess if one is still above the designated cut-offs it won't be an issue.
even most of the coaching centres asks people to write best 5 in CAT form as all 6 new iims + few old ones consider best 5 only which they take directly from CAT application itself. (again not blaming anyone for my mistake)

ms1987 My CBSE class 12 marks (best of 5) comes to 87 % , but if the optional subject , i.e. Physical Education is taken into account my percentage comes down to 85.5%. I was advised by mentors on Synapse to mention the best of 5 percentage. I hope this does not create any issue during admission

All answers in Synapse are verified before being posted and no such information has been given out in Synapse. It might be a case of miscommunication on the part of the individual concerned. All of you must understand that Synapse is maintained by students who take time out of their busy schedule to reply with much authenticity to all queries. And last year the same trend of aggregate was followed.

ms1987 @poulomi18 I had this doubt regarding the total marks and I remember asking the question on Synapse stating the problem. I was told that for CBSE total of 5 subjects is good enough and I need not worry about the 6th optional subject. Too bad I cannot access synapse to show where the answer was posted. Anyway , what is the cutoff marks for 12th ?

blogger2mba @DarkJedi If you are comapring IIMA and IIMB, it is of no problem if you are going to either of them. The IIM ABC, XL, ISB are all together in a different league. If a participant answering the ranking survey is asked to compare IIFT and MDI or MDI and SPJMIR, what does he/she does? Just go by the brand perception he/she has or personal liking or limited info they have about them. It is based on perception and IIFT is the best college that offers courses in international trade and business. No college can come close to that. And the b school with more presence here gets a good rank. Eg. ISB rank dropping from top 5 to 12. The range of opportunities and the peer group that you get at ISB is uncomparable. Yet placed at 12. The rankings should be cluster based with different verticals. TISS and XL are top notch in HR. But TISS is somewhere around 16. Better than IIMS, NM and SIBM. But all these colleges offer general MBA which is better in terms of opportunities compared to TISS. The ideal way is to talk to seniors at colleges, go through the linked in profiles of alums, see the companies that come to campus and what roles are offered, industry interface and peer group.

PKDK @blogger2mba bro ....but der is one more concern....as shillong and mdi are so close......there alumni will also be biased towards their college.....and rightly so......bcoz they have seen their college for 2yrs......yes if there is a huge difference like iim a and shillong no senior can give biased opinion.....but i think in case of shillong and mdi unavoidable bisases can exist......

blogger2mba @PKDK It is obvious that they give biased info but the bias factor varies. And not everyone gives a biased opinion. Dont just talk to one or two. IMO, MDI stands better than Shilli bcos of the location, opportunities, alumni and industry exposure. Sure, Shilli will also grow but it will take time. As i said, IIM tag is an added advantage at Shilli. The only concerns are the industry exposure and opportunities. Around 52 companies came to Shilli this year which is lesser than companies that come to MDI. But again, it totally depends on the individual on how he best utilises the college.

dark_Sector but again the batch size of IIM-s is an advantage.... IMO in two years if the business climate in india improves drastically then its MDI who will be at advantage (in terms of avg packages) , but if the climate deteriorates then definitely IIM-S (i mean in terms of placement percentage)

RogueAssasin @devangjain18 MDI anyday, because of less batch size which is around 300 but IIM Indore has a huge batch size of 451. And ROI is also better in MDI. BTW this is my last post because comparision of Bschools is not allowed.
