    CAT 2012 notification out
by Lajwanti D'Souza in CAT 2012 notification on 22 July '12

The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2012 notification for admission to the 13 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) is out. Much of what is tabled is what we already told you in our previous articles dated July 18 and July 20 . More information is available on the CAT website or in today's national dailies which contain the notification.

    The salient features include:

*A CAT candidate can appear for the exam only once during the 21-day testing window which is October 11, 2012 to November 6, 2012

*The CAT 2012 video will be available on www.catiim.in from July 28, 2012 onwards.

*Separate advertisements will be published for the Fellowship programme of each institute.

*The shortlisting of candidates for the second stage of selection may be independent of each other. The processes, academic cut-offs and the weights allocated to evaluation parameters may vary across IIMs.

*Mere fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria will not ensure consideration for shortlisting by the IIMs.

*The voucher has to be bought in the name of the candidate as it appears in the school leaving certificate.

    • Sohini2289 anybody who is from the ICSE/ISC board(or CISCE council)can you please tell me how u will be calculating your ICSE and ISC percentage while filling up the CAT application form?I had logged into www.catiim.in for CAT 2012 details and under educational background(under registration guide) i found for computing SSC or equivalent or HSC or equivalent the aggregate marks of all subjects that appear in the marksheet would be considered. My question is then do have to consider all subjects(both in ICSE and ISC)..for eg we had six subjects in ICSE(2006)eng,maths,2nd language, science, hist and geog and 6th subject..so i have to take the total of all 6 and divide the total by 6 to get the aggegate percentage?or should i follow our best 5 for icse and best 4 for isc rule?please help and reply ASAP..application process starts 30th so..i need to be sure before that..

but here u have to add up the total marks and give the percentage!!!

      #37 • 23 Jul '12 Like
    • losetowin @Sohini2289 By the rules of CISCE, percentage is calculated on best of 5(for ICSE) and best of 4 (for ISC). In the CAT notification it is mentioned that the percentage of marks obtained by the candidate in the bachelor’s degree would be calculated based on the practice followed by the university/institution from where the candidate has obtained the degree. I am not very sure whether the same applies for SSC and HSC. Any experienced guy can put some more light on this subject.
