I just checked York university's application status page today and was delighted to see the word "Admitted". I am yet to receive the e-mail from the school. I hope they send it soon.

Few additional information if it helps
1. Credila has no limit on loan amount.
2. indian Bank provides loan up to 30L but interest rates are 14.5% beyond 20L. IBA limit is only valid for loans upto 20L
2. Some banks do approve over and above 20L upto 25L with approvals from higher management, provided collateral secutiry is worth enough to accomodate the increased loan capability.

For people intend to drive in canada (better to have a license)

Please obtain a Driver licence extract from RTO before leaving india - usually costs 20-30 Rs. The document is accepted as proof of driving in the process to obtain license - to drive in canada. Without this, the wait time for obtaining driving privilages can vary between 1 year to 2 years based on how valid the indian drivers license is. No Hindi or Regional languages accepted. All licenses have to be in English or should accompany an IDP if not in English. Without an IDP, one can drive for only 3 months on Indian license. Indian IDP is valid for 1 year.

Please have a global credit card. It is a necessity in canada for few quick things needed immediately

I received an interview invite last week. My interview is scheduled to be held on Mar 22nd. I submitted my application in the last week of Jan.
Very excited!!

Here's my profile:
GMAT - 690,
WE - 5 yrs in IT. Of which 2 yrs exp in US and CAN.
Acads - B Tech (CS) 70%.

Fill up the Confirmation form and scan the copy.

Email both the confirmation and DD to international admission.
Send the confirmation and DD to Postal Address.

from which bank did u get ur dd made? how many days time does it take to receive a confirmation from the admissions committee?

I have sent the confirmation deposit. I am processing my education Loan.
The details I have received so far,

HDFC Credila:
12.85% - reduced to 12.85 - now they have further reduced to 12.95% (with collateral) - Interest (Simple Interest starting immediately on the release of amount) .Repayment of the principal after 6 months of graduation or start date of employment (which ever earlier) .

SBI:
12 % (with collateral) (Simple Interest starting immediately on the release of amount) .Repayment of the principal after 6 months of graduation or start date of employment (which ever earlier) . Max amount is 20 Lakhs


Canara Bank
12.75 % (with collateral) (Simple Interest starting immediately on the release of amount) .Repayment of the principal after 6 months of graduation or start date of employment (which ever earlier) . Max amount is 20 Lakhs. Discount of 0.5% in interest if the Simple Interest is paid on time.

Now i am confused which school to go for. Both schools are equally reputed in Canada. But I am not sure, how are job opportunities in Quebec and Toronto for a person who want to be an It consultant or Business analyst after MBA.
I think living expenses would be less in Quebec compared to Toronto.

Would appreciate if someone can help me in taking the decision as this is the last week for me to deposit the initial amount to schulich.

Congrats for the offers.
Just an info: Mcgill is located in Quebec Province which is mostly dominated by people speaking french, and on a Job front you can inquire about the Jobs in Quebec. I dont think it would matter for companies in quebec if one knows french or not,or do they prefer ppl having knowledge of french as a second lang in that area, so just check. All the best.

I applied to Schulich on Feb 1, 2012 but have not even received an "application complete" email from the school. I tried emailing the school for info but got no response. What would you kind people suggest I do to get an update on application status?

I had emailed to intl admission and received the reply as:

"If you will send by demand draft, please make it payable to: York University. On the back of the draft, please write down your full name and the student number.".

There was no reply as far as "Payable at" was concerned. So presuming it as Canada.

Admission confimation document says the same I guess. The messed up text paragraph is has above the credit card section.

I borrowed money from family friends etc to lower my burden on loan. you may consider to do the same, or try getting a higher loan from credila. They do offer more than 20Lacs.

Schulich will not return initial deposit if you elect not to join.

The one ICICI gave me is by Bank of Montreal n its payable in whole of Canada.
Your bank would probably give U a DD by some bank they are affliated to in Canada and I assume it should be payable in whole of Canada. ICICI ka I know, other banks I think U should call them up.

I might get around 20lakhs (from Credila as loan) and my visa consultant has told me that I need to show another 15 lakhs in savings account. But, who will have 15 lakhs in savings account? I am having a lot of trouble with this. How did you show the amount in your savings account? You had that much amount in your/your father's account. Please suggest. The consultant told me that he needs that amount to be there in the account (at least in a blood relative's account) for the last 6 months. I am so worried how to go about it.

Also, please let me know if we get the deposit amount ($2500) back, if by any chance my visa is rejected?

If your deadline for initial deposit is not an issue then I think you can wait or perhaps, write to them.

I am from India in Jan 2012 intake. I used travelex to pay my first term fee in. It is very convenient. You have to download a form from

York University Student Financial Services Fees - Paying Your Student Account

fill it, and take it to your bank in next 3days time as the exchange rate is fixed for three days. I did it with HDFC and they transferred the money within a week.

If you can show some additional funds over and above your loan, then it makes your case strong. It is true with any other bank irrespective of whether it is credila of SBI.

If you are traveling single, then 8L is sufficient. If you are traveling with your family then you may show that you have funds in excess of 11-12L over and above your loan.

I am from Hyderabad and I think Shweta, Deadlines and Avik are the other ones from Hyderabad. I have been following this thread but this is my first post. I got an admit from Schulich and applied for loan from HDFC Credila. The agent from Credila said that the visa officer is not accepting Loan from credila and we need to show our own funds. Is it true?

Shweta/Dealines/Avik, are you going through any visa consultancy or are you applying on your own. If you are going through a consultancy can you please let me know which one is it.
