India - The Land of Scamsutra
Congress led UPA government rode high on success in the year 2009 and managed to get another 5 years term after 2004. Their main objective and agenda for 2009 elections was "Inclusive Growth" of Indian Economy and Citizens. Lesser did the Indian Public knew at that time that the term "Inclusive Growth " was not for India but for the UPA politicians and allied parties. With each passing year this so called "Inclusive Growth is rising in the backdrops of rising scams.
Let the numbers do the talking and things would become clearer as what I'm trying to say here - 7 scams in 2008, 9 in 2009, 14 in 2010, 23 in 2011 and 22 so far in 2012. These are the official numbers and don't include smaller one or those which are yet to see the light of the day and which I'm sure would be out in due course of time. Scams are not new for Indian Janata and its not that they have resurfaced suddenly. But then, the sheer magnitudes of these scams are something which worries me the most. Add all these scams and you will get a figure of over 19 lakh crore. Add the amount of black money which is there in the Swiss bank accounts and we are looking at an amount which is good enough to make India self sustainable in all the fields like poverty, illiteracy, education and many more. According to an online news portal "My Economist", India has more money in Swiss bank than all the other countries combined. Second best Russia has 4 times lesser deposit. US is not even there in the counting in top five. This news surely rings a bell and tells that all is not well for us.
A few months back, "Business Insider", a well known e-magazine based in US, came out with a list of world's 23 richest politicians. Sonia Gandhi with her wealth estimated between $2-19 billion, stood 4th in the list. The Gandhi family and the ruling & allied parties are strangely silent on this report. So, it's just not about the Gandhi's but also about the Chidambaram's and Pawar's. Should they not charge them if the reports were false? Should they not try to bring them down? And should they not come out in public and replied to these giving proper justification with some solid facts? They didn't do anything, the reasons are well known to everyone.
For those, who think this is just one made up story by "Business Insider", go to Google and type "4th richest politician in world" and you would get about 12,500,000 search results in web. Well, to me the website has surely gone wrong in showing the amount of wealth (illegally, of course) amassed by the Gandhi Family. The amount cannot be so small. Gandhi family has looted India since Independence and they should have made much more than claimed by the magazine. The website must be sued for showing our great "Gandhi" family in 'poor' light - they are much more richer than shown. We could only hope, they carry out this legacy with Mr. Rahul Gandhi. May be one day we could claim to have an Indian (Gandhi or Pawars) getting the top honour of being the wealthiest politician of world.
Now, the most unfortunate thing is, we Indians have still not changed a bit.
We have helped these political leaders amass huge wealth and have helped them become what they're today and have given them the freedom to come and loot us whenever they want. There was a political uprise when Sonia Gandhi turned down the post of PM and what was followed was a hoard of suckers in the country, who wanted to fast to death after she refused to become the Prime Minister of the country. Can anyone just beat that stupidity? India is probably one of the only places in the world where the person is recognized and respected not by his/her works but by his/her surname.
I would not like to bring here the matter of 2G scam, as already enough has been said about that but nothing really came out. Mr. Scam, Raja is free bird now and he would do all sorts of things to make sure he doesn't get charged or dragged into court anymore. When Bangaru Laxman, a former BJP was convicted for accepting just 1lakh rupees in a sting operation, all politicians and media went behind him and a lot of din was created. Surprisingly, not much is done in case of Manu Singhvi.
A congress party spokesman, Mr. Singhvi who is also a senior lawyer was caught on video in a compromising position with a woman lawyer seeking his influence to become a judge. If that was not enough, the court and congress party also seems to have kept a silent face in this case. This was expected as the people who are at the helm of these judicial affairs are themselves involved neck-deep into corruption and bribes. For example, KG Balakrishnan, who was the former chief justice of India and now heading the Human Rights Commission, stands accused of bribery. So, In India, you're either a corrupt politician or a Congress person.
There are numerous other examples as how these politicians did all these and then safely managed to save their backs. Suresh Kalmadi(CWG), Ashok Chavan, Vilasrao Deshmukh ( Adarsh housing) and the list goes on.
What baffles me the most is the latest avatars of these politicians in using the hard earned public money in events (not related to public) just to boost their political figures and grab some limelight in media and among their supporters. Mamata banerjee(Didi) who was charged with the state of Bengal to bring about massive positive changes has failed completely- left, right and centre.
When Bengal was already reeling under a huge debt burden of Rs.2.13 lakh crore, Didi decided to felicitate the winners of IPL 5 from state government's pocket. A day after Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL, this is what Didi had to say to the media - ""We are a poor state. What can we give? We will only give our greetings and good wishes to them". A couple of days later, Kolkata was busy preparing for the grand welcome of the IPL 5 winners and their owner. According to sources, just the 25 gold chains and medals given by the KMC to the players left it poorer by around Rs.30 lakh. Add another 15-20 lakh for the entire ceremony and it had cost the tax payers over 50 lakhs of rupees.
The present status of India and some of their states are due to the collusive strategies of corrupt politicians and the Indian electorate's stupidity. Do you think, we can now wake up and shed off our stupidity and become smart for a change? Do you think after 65 years of insanity, we can become sane and do justice to not only our country but to ourselves?
The answer to all these questions lies in the year 2014. Till then, let insanity prevail!!
who is responsible for degradation of Indian economy Sonia Gandhi led UPA govt or public which chooses such Govt?
Sonia Gandhi is just party president from where this much money coming is UPA govt itself so much loyal that it is donating hard earned money from scams, after the black money gets accrued in her swiss acounts in the tenure of 3 year ruling of UPA?
