Please do proper research before posting such hilarity. The only time president can SUPPORT something close to an autocratic state is what it did in 1975. Authorise an emergency. And as the Supreme Commander of Armed Forces, he can use military to suppress civil force. And even without VIOLATING the Constitution, an ambitious President can therefore become the real ruler of India.

And what you referred me to is just one aspect of President's power viz Emergency powers, that contains National Emergency, State Emergency and Financial Emergency. I hope you do know, don't you, that there are other powers under Article 72, besides the Emergency power, namely Legislative power, Financial power, Diplomatic power, Judicial power, Pardoning power and Military power? So what I was referring to was not just Article 352/6/60, but the resultant powers that are derived from Article 72 read with 352/6/60.

So we should respect the country by showing respect towards its flag.There is no harm in hoisting a pakistani flag because we are indians and every indian has respect not only for his country ,its culture etc but also towards other countries .

If they do such things in their country then it should not prompt us to do the same as there is much difference in being an indian or being a pakistani :)

I am a supporter of Congress, partly because of a lack of a credible alternative and partly because I am ideologically more comfortable with Congress than with the BJP, though this doesnt mean that I necessarily agree with all aspects of their ideology. But even I dont buy this argument about Manmohan Singh being clean and surrounded with Bollywood movie like villian characters.

Corruption has 2 aspects to it there is moral corruption and monetary corruption. Manmohan Singh might not have taken monetary bribes but by turning a blind eye to corruption by his ministers he has shown moral corruption, the same thing that Modi is guilty of even if he is acquitted of instigating riots (which personally I think he did). I feel sick when I hear this argument about MMS being personally honest, this argument is okay if you are a clerk in a government office, but he is the prime minister and this argument is not at all tenable. In law and in almost all professional body regulations there is this clause of how an individual in a position of responsiblity is supposed to act according to the highest standard and what is reasonably expected out of a person holding such a position and tomorrow if MMS was to be judged by a jury of his peers he would be held accountable for deriliction of duty on many accounts. In another 2 years MMS will be the 3rd longest serving PM of ndia and 10 yrs is a long time in a young nations history, 10 years can bring about dramatic changes in the way a country is governed and with Manmohan it has been a lost opportunity and as such I think MMS will be judged harshly by history, which is quite sad.

vilasrao deshmukh being the most corrupt minister now is sending rountinely money to sonia gandhi so that he can enjoy the power as CM of Maharashtra where money power speaks first and justice seems to be hired by politicians which they are using like a white clothing covering all murkier and dirtier activities who are enjoying all the comforts that middle class society barely think of that.
under the tenure of UPA govt it seems that itself being a harbinger of terrorism,poverty,rising crime rates,rising prices in oil and other commodities,corruption,illeteracy(the gap between rich and poor is still widened),falling value of rupee,Red tapism,scams/scandals.
When country's economy is not strong it is red signal for people of the country being attacked from any side and green signal for neighbours to attack the nation.today in this nation ithink hardly anybody favors the UPA's tenure whatever little it did for public is more or less like a fiscal deficit for the public.
UPA has been a failure in meeting demands of public and also not able to fulfill even 1 commitment 100% and the 5 yrs plan turned out to be failure india is suffering now more than what it suffered 5 yrs before not because of external factors like recession etc if country has strong economic policies then it can sustain volatility in global market to whatever magnitude it is but because of failure in commitment made by UPA govt while it contested for elections.

antony can easily be sidelined as he's the most taint free and good person in congress [ from whatever i know ]

and we all know how much congress loves taint free and good men of our country

But as Adi said , President alone cannot do anything in our country . Consent from PM and cabinet ministers are the must to make India Autocratic .
