You are aware of the marketing potential of a signing like Ronnie, you have guaranteed 10 million plus shirt sales(if we go by the numbers required at the site), on top of that you gain brownie points with the fans with such a signing. The sponsors are interested in financing part of the deal...Plus the most important point, Ronnie is a top 2 player. what would you do ?

rats91 Lampard and Gerrard are my favourite central midfielders. No matter what anyone says, I've always believed and still believe that they are the best central midfield pairing that England can have. Its just that the managers have never been able to get the tactics right and then eventually blame Lamps and Stevie.

rats91 Only if any manager had known how to play Gerrard and Lampard together, England would have been a dominant force in Europe.
Its like having Xavi and Iniesta together in a team.
They can rip every midfield apart.
The team should have been built around them. But every manager built the team according to his liking.
You make a team according to the players you have. You cannot make players play the way you want them too. They will obviously fail.
Play to the strengths of your team, you will win. No manager did

nj05 @rats91 Its difficult when you have two similar attack-minded players (Stevie and Lamps) in the middle and want to play 4-4-2 all the time with long ball tactics... In my opinion Paul Scholes got the short stick by being played on wings (sometimes left wing for god;s sake !!!)... Barca play Xavi and iniesta in a 5 man mid and have some-one like Busquets behind them to break up play and control tempo... England never utilised Scholes or Carrick with Lamps-Stevie midfield properly

davidwatson1212 He is a human being too !! He is failing to cope up with the fact that RVP has come and taken the best player tag away from him !!! Having said that, Rooney has been injured this season and has done well goal scoring wise and assist wise . He just doesn't like sitting at the bench !!! nobody liked his timing, but yeah, some issues you have to ignore !!!

DarKnight14 I've no issues when it comes to hard work on field and goals n assists.Rooney is a team player,never had any issues with his overall work rate..
I know Rooney is a guy who wears his heart on his sleeve and does things emotionally..
He could've,for one last time,thought of the timing..
and as far as coping is concerned,i think he could've coped well,he has played in a team which had stars like Ronnie(he's bigger in those days as well),Becks,Nistelrooy(striker,compatriot) to name a few..
nobody can always play in a top European team day in day out..

Rooney wasn't at United at time of Becks, and he was just a kid in front of RVN at that time, He & CR7 grew together, somehow knowing and accepting the fact that Ronaldo is better than him, so he comfortably played second fiddle to him, with Ronaldo's departure he was THE MAN.. and RVP came and took away that role .. Rooney isn't sure whether he is even the second most-important player in the team !!! Rooney would be the best person to replace Scholes in the midfield but does Rooney wants to take up that role ?? that is the question...

didroo he gave city a title after 40 odd years..but yes..considering the money they spent on the team and considering the individual talent they have , i think he under performed...he has made some good tactics...pushing yaya up the field by subbing rodwell and overloading united's left flank etc...but yeah he won the title on goal difference and performed pathetically in europe ....

In SAF, United had one heck of a manger, and that is why United win so many titles !!! It is only because Vidic wasn't available last year that United drew with everton inspite of being 4-2 ahead , and ultimately lost the title !!! This time United showed City who is the real daddy !!!

raven_007 a CM is like the heart of the team, and United are slowly moving away from the wing style of play. Kagawa will do well next year, i dont think jones prefer to play in CM, he will be used as 3rd choice CB or RB next year, we definitely need another CM and a left back, and i want CR7
