am i right ?
am i right ?
@[411127:sid2222000]arey bapre:P..mera toh (1) tha...3 in total..coz a+b=4 is one condition and a can take values as 0,2,4. apka 4th number kaha se aya?

@[542948:MI8888] case 1 and 2 : when we subtract 2 in case 1, it means two cases where only single student gets all 5 fruits lets say stud A
in case 2 : subtracting 3 automatically have 2 scenario covered into case 1 for ex stud A getting all 5 fruits...
I suppose I am making sense to you.....

@[115576:pratee] : we have to subtract 2 cases from total 3^5 cases:
Case - 1 : when from the 3 chosen guys only 2 get the fruits - 2^5 but it will also include the case when out of 2 only 1 get the fruit so we have to subtract that - (2^5 - 2) ...

(2^5-2) this -2 has already been taken into account in -3...when only one student gets all five fruits..isn't it??
@[588946:VINAY5890]
was there an option 5/36 ??
was there an option 5/36 ??
@[494200:professamit]: BAROBAR...
@[222373:Love_CAT] : since a+b should be positive so the soln a=-1 and b=1 wont work. Hence the answer would be 6.
@[115576:pratee] : I was getting 125/324
6C3*[3^5 - 3C2*(2^5 - 2) - 3]/6^5
6C3*[3^5 - 3C2*(2^5 - 2) - 3]/6^5
did u get the same thing
@[588946:VINAY5890] yeah if we go by this soln there was no such option
Thts the reason i wasted 10 mins n didn't mark anything
Thts the reason i wasted 10 mins n didn't mark anything
select 3 frm 6 in 6c3 , then x1+X2+x3=5(no of solutions)4c2 nd x1+x2+ x3+x4+ x5+x6=5(number of non negative solutions=10c5) so 6c3*4c2/10c5=10/21 , but no option in the qustion is 10/21
can u tell me wht were the options
ya i am wrong
in the question it ws mentioned that fruits should be distributed among exactly 3 students..
So from 3^5 don't we need to subtract 6ways in which 5fruits will be given to only one and two students....??
So from 3^5 don't we need to subtract 6ways in which 5fruits will be given to only one and two students....??
result kab hai?
6c3(select 3 out of 6 students)*3^5(each fruit can be given in 3 ways of the 3 students selected)/6^5 =5/8
"How does one reduce less mistakes in VA?" Less mistakes is a good thing! Anyway, you have answered your own question "always end up attempting a lot in II section". Attempt lesser questions, only the ones you are very sure of. I started with 10 mistakes in VALR in my earlier mocks, but analysi...

@sanjeev.kataria(a+8)(b+7)=56 Now factorise 56.
Like 1*56 for it a=-7 b=49 or it can be a=48 b=-6 Do it for 2*28, 4*14 So a total of 2*3 waysNow for 7*8 a=-1 b=1 or a=0,b=1 but the latter is not possible.
Hence 7 values

anyone knows hw to reduce less mistakes in VA???
with QA nd LR u always know, if u r doing it rite or not. but no such thing with VA, so i always end up attempting a lot in II section and a lot of times a lot of dem go wrong too.
In 1310, attempted all in sec. II got 19 correct bt 11 wrong.

@[564457:singhanand98] i did d same thing bt as far as i remember 81 wasnt even as an option.
the options were 80, 160, 161 and 169. ( not sure abt d last option).
i jst marked d answer as 80, it being d closest one.

ans is 6?
@[605522:sanjeev.kataria] @[564457:singhanand98] The sum of the nth terms are given: 7+6(n-1) + 5+8(n-1) = 9000. n=643. The first series is 7,13,19,25,31,37,43,49,55,61.........the second one is 5,13,21,29,37,45,53,61,69,77,85.......the common terms are 13,37,61......which if observed are the 2nd...

Right you are sir, Itna careful tha, almost reluctant, ke sirf 19 kar paaya, fir bhi 3 errors is very unusual.
i expected a lot of 140s in this one as the exam felt on the easier side.Expecting an errata in quant if not then some very beautifully deceiving questions in quant..

In my opinion, they weren't tough, they were just quite lengthy.

@[605522:sanjeev.kataria] For the second question...The equation can be written as (a+8)(b+7)=56Now here a is always positive and b can be positive or negative ... so a can take only 14 , 28, 56 ...3 values ...

@[588946:VINAY5890] dude i dont remember the answers or even the qstns!!wait a day or two and the results and solutions will be out!!sorry for disappointing u man!!
@[605522:sanjeev.kataria] For your first question ...The sum of first n terms of both the series is given ... n comes out as 642 ... now find the 642nd term of the series, which the smallest of the two ... now the nth common terms is 48n-35 ... now this should be less than the nth term of the ser...

There are two arithmetic progressions, A1 and A2, whose first terms are 7 and 5 respectively and whose common differences are 6 and 8 respectively. How many terms of the series are common in the first n terms of A1 and A2, if the sum of the nth terms of A1 and A2 is equal to 9000?

Less mistakes is a good thing! Anyway, you have answered your own question
). If you are somehow sure of everything and still getting most questions wrong, then you need to get back to basics. Read regularly, and maybe get some material on grammar rules and stuff.
not sure abt d last option).
