this was a pretty easy aimcat........ but i still managed to commit many silly mistakes.....

16x^10-11x^5+4=(4x^5-2)^2+5x^5

For max value,x^5=2/4
So 9/(16x^10-11x^5+4)=9/((4x^5-2)^2+5x^5)=9/(5*2/4)=18/5

So how is it 64/5? Where am i wrong?

You cannot say the the max./min. value of (4x^5-2)^2+5x^5 is at x^5=2/4.. because both the terms (4x^5-2)^2 and 5x^5 are dependent on x. You can rewrite as (4x^5 - 11/^2 + 135/64.. Hence max value will be at x^5=11/32. Max. value = 9/(135/64) = 64/15

Posted the scores earlier itself. Was expecting to clear only QA cut off. But cleared VA also. Missed DI by 10 marks!!

Got an overall of 96.04%tile this time(QA - 98.44, DI - 72.41 , VA - 94.07)
Number of students who took the test was very less. Only arnd 22k compared to 32-33k for previous AIMCAT. But still is my best performance so far.

Steadily increasing towards that magic figure of 99. Hope to get there in next few mocks.

Since the results are out and analysis of paper has started here I go,
Qstn 36,
Time answer key says, option 4 but i think its 5,
heres the reasoning :
If the statement was phrased as : Only if you study well, you will get good marks and a gold medal .
then the reasoning was correct, but here there is no such condition, that is I think its possible to get goldmedal and good marks even without studying well. Is there any specific way of reasoning ??

I think these are easy marks and should not be left at any cost. For practice, you could easily find such questions in TIME practice material.:-P

I am getting decent scores in DI & QA .. I am able to get 90%ile most of the time... but but but in VA i am not able to even touch 70 %ile...

I think this is the wake up call for me... Again became complacent after getting 95+%ile in VA in consecutive CL mocks

My first AIMCAT ever... joined late and hoping to make it up for that... I know 90 days is still enough for me... Only if VA goddess has some mercy on me and intelligence to not get bored with passages shines on me

I have decent QA and LRDI so I tend to spend more time on them collectively... That hampers my EURC but should not I be trying to maximize my scores ?? :|

jst wondering wil a score of 32 suffice in real CAT...??

Was a very strange test for me...even after 2.5 hrs got over, I was able to see the quesions and my answers..footnote said that that I was offline...but I found that power was there and net connectivity was also fine..tried to submit the paper..but of no avail..afer some time the page crashed...I was hoping that my answers would have been loaded..but result says a different story:

QA: 10C/5W 35
DI: 0C/1W -1
VA: 0C/0W 0
OA: 34

I remember having solved around 15 questions per section..

Feeling really low..Got an AIR 38 (CR 2) in DI with a 99.83..But TIME's online exams have been organised so badly, its demotivating..

With a 20 minutes QA - landed with 82%ile & VA is at 92.83%ile

OA -98.35%ile with an AIR of 369...

Hope atleast from 1012, I would be blessed to give it for complete 2.5 hours & my results are uploaded properly ..

I'm in a similar situation. Just can't seem to cross 99. Out of the 7 given, i've gotten to 98.94, just can't get past 99. It's a road block, a mental block. Always in the 97-99 range.

This time, 97.54. Total of 159. All clear. I lost 10 mins in VA filling up the answers to QA which had mysteriously disappeared.

Same here buddies.........Mostly in 97-99 range, have dipped sometimes but never crossed 99, highest being 98.9. This time it was 97.03 (OA - 155)....Anyways hope to cross the milestone next time.....ATB

My strongest section ( read QA ) dug the grave for me Scores : VA : 47 ( 97.39 ) DI : 69 (98 ) QA : 58 (92.3 ) OA : 174 (98.76 )

just when I have cleared all the cut-offs my overall goes down

anyway...will take it.

its mainly because of no. of test takers...
thread poll is also an indicator of this..
i remember last time there were around 500 votes in a poll..

P.S. No. of votes are less may be because of biased fragmentation of poll..
